INTRIGUING PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUE // Photographers Wayne Budge and Julie Sisco used Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) to create a striking collection of abstract, dynamic photography shaped by motion and light. Through deliberate camera movement, the artists transform everyday scenes into expressive, dreamlike compositions, offering audiences a fresh and unexpected perspective on the photographic medium.

Everyday Abstractions will be at Warwick Art Gallery 16 April to 23 May 2026.

Meet Wayne and Julie at Warwick Art Gallery on Saturday 9 May at 10.30 am as they share their unusually beautiful approach to photography. This is a FREE event.

We are getting a preview of Southern Downs Spring Ensemble's "Dance Music Through the Centuries" performance this evening while they rehearse . It is SO GOOD 💃🎻🥁

Two chances to experience the joy of dance music this coming weekend - Warwick Art Gallery 2pm Saturday 2 May and Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery 2pm Sunday 3 May.

Last year's performance here was a full house, so we recommend booking sooner rather than later. Buy your ticket in person at Warwick Art Gallery, or on our website under the Events tab.

EARTH IN MOTION // Founded in March 1974, Warwick Potters Association (Warwick Potters) is a local community group dedicated to pottery. The group grew out of a raku workshop run by the Warwick Arts Council, where its success led participants to form the association. By 1978, Warwick Potters held their first craft markets at Leslie Park, followed by their first exhibition in 1979, showcasing 260 pieces. In 2024, Warwick Potters Association celebrated its 50th anniversary, marking its history, members, and enduring passion for pottery.

An exhibition of their eclectic variety of work has been installed this week at Warwick Art Gallery and will be officially opened tonight at 6pm (Friday 24 April). "Earth in Motion" brings together works that honour clay as a living, responsive material shaped by the movement of human hands.

SOMETHING EXTRAORDINARY IS COMING TO WARWICK THIS WINTER ❤️ //
For one week only during Jumpers and Jazz in July, the iconic Red Dress will be on display at Warwick Art Gallery - a truly special moment for our region.

Created by British artist Kirstie Macleod, The Red Dress is a powerful global collaboration. Over 14 years, it has travelled the world, with hundreds of embroiderers from diverse cultures and communities contributing their stories through intricate hand stitching. The result is a breathtaking garment that speaks to connection, resilience, and shared humanity.

We are also thrilled to welcome Kirstie Macleod as a special guest of Warwick Art Gallery during this exclusive showing. The Red Dress will only feature at two Australian venues for this tour, and Warwick Art Gallery is the only regional Gallery to have the honour.

In celebration of this incredible coup, our dedicated gallery volunteers have been stitching something magical of their own - tiny red dresses for dolls that will become part of our beloved Pink Tree installation in the gallery garden. Each year, the Pink Tree grows with the creativity and care of our staff and volunteers - and this year, it will be glowing with touches of red in honour of The Red Dress.

Make sure you plan your visit, between 16 and 23 July, and experience this beautiful blend of community, creativity, and colour.

Jumpers and Jazz in July dates 💃16 July - 26 July 2026

HOME IS WHERE THE ART IS // We had the most amazing morning today with kids, young adults, parents and grandparents all spending time drawing their home to support the Children's Hospital Foundation statewide initiative Drawn Together: Help Make Hospital Feel More Like Home.

Last year alone, more than 1,900 families from Warwick and the Southern Downs region received care through Queensland Children’s Hospital and support from Children’s Hospital Foundation. To show support for these local families, the Children’s Hospital Foundation alongside Warwick Art Gallery are hosting two community workshops, at Warwick Art Gallery. The next one is tomorrow, Saturday 11 April from 10.30am to 12midday.

We have places available in tomorrow's group. The workshop fee of $5 per child/young adult and $10 for adults will be donated IN FULL to the Children's Hospital Foundation. Pre-book via the Gallery's website, or come to the Gallery at 10.15am to register.

Our thanks to Rebekah Park for these lovely photographs, and Lily and Lucy from the Children's Hospital Foundation for joining in.

MESMERIZING DIGITAL WORKS // This is the last week of Cara-Ann Simpson's extraordinary exhibition Furari Flores (stealing flowers). This multi-sensory exhibition is simply breathtaking and one of the most popular experiences are the digital films. Spectrography, which is the visual analysis of soundwaves, correspond in real-time to field-recording compositions created from the plant’s site. Hard to explain, but beautiful to watch!

In this still image from one film the Australian native hovea lorata is used to represent the Earth’s spirit and breath. They survive against the odds, yet when your back is turned small pieces have fallen, gently and quietly, to return to earth.

The exhibition will close at midday on Saturday 11 April.

Cara-Ann Simpson is represented by Onespace, Brisbane. Furari Flores is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
