I spy with my little eye 👀 something beginning with O - 🍊

We are certainly feeling the nostalgia of seeing our once famous orange bins revamped and brought back to life as sculptural art pieces around the town today.

Did you know that Waikerie, was once proudly recognized as The Citrus Centre of Australia?

If you haven’t already listened to the Story Town app, tune in below to hear Mark Riccuito and Neville Beelitz talk about the story of our iconic bins.

🌸Calling all gardeners, photographers and flower lovers…

With this stunning spring weather arriving, now is the perfect time to start thinking about this year’s Waikerie & Districts Community Flower Show Photography Competition, proudly sponsored by Rain Moth Gallery.

This year’s theme is Garden Party, and we’d love to see how you interpret it. Whether it’s a spectacular bloom, a beautifully styled table, friends gathered in the garden, or simply the little details that make your outdoor space feel special, there are so many ways to bring this years theme to life.

So as your garden begins to bloom over the coming weeks, keep your camera close. Your perfect competition photo might be waiting just outside your back door.

Booklets to enter the flower show are now available from the Gallery.

We can’t wait to see what our community creates. 🌿📷

We know we’ve been a little quiet on socials lately, but we definitely haven’t been behind the scenes. 👀

So we’re putting these photos here as a bit of a timestamp really.

This is the Rain Moth Gallery gift shop right now. But over the coming weeks, you’re going to start noticing a few changes around here. Some small, some considerably less small. 😂 They won’t all happen at once, but slowly this space is going to start looking and feeling a VERY different ✨✨

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes as we think about the next chapter of the Rain Moth, and we’re ridiculously excited to finally start bringing some of it to life.

Consider these the before photos.

We’ll keep you along for the ride as things start changing, with a bigger reveal and celebration to come once it all comes together.

Watch this space. 👀

📣THE SURVEY RESULTS ARE IN

Well gosh, 116 detailed responses recieved and honestly, we are still all a little blown away. 🥰

When we put the Rain Moth Gallery Community Survey out into the world, we genuinely didn't know what kind of response we'd receive. So to have 116 people take the time to stop, think about this little gallery and generously tell us what they value, what's working, what could be better and what they'd love to see in its future has meant an enormous amount.

Thank you. Truly ☺️

We have now worked through all of that feedback and put together a brief public summary of what we heard, which you can read below

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ho3-NvYixGhpsoulbNn58gk3A7wxdi89/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=107136427401600902930&rtpof=true&sd=true

Behind this sits a much larger body of work that has been provided to our existing committee and will be carried forward for the incoming committee following our AGM in November. We would really love to see some fresh faces around that table too 😉 So many of the ideas you've shared are possible, but they need people. New energy, new perspectives, volunteers, committee members and people who simply care about seeing Rain Moth continue to grow and thrive.

But, in saying that, there are already big things happening.

Some really exciting conversations and plans were underway before this survey even opened, and we'll be able to share more about those over the coming weeks. What your feedback has done though is give us enormous confirmation that many of those conversations are heading in exactly the direction our community is asking us to go.

It has also made it very clear where our attention needs to go next.

We won't be able to do everything at once, and some ideas will take more time, people and resources than others. But we didn't ask you what you thought just to tuck 116 responses away in a folder somewhere and forget about it. We asked because we wanted to listen, and now we want to keep bringing you along as we work through what comes next, so please stay tuned.
Like and share our posts, come through the doors, tell your friends, volunteer, consider joining the committee, or simply keep being part of the conversation.

From me personally, thank you for the trust, generosity and encouragement you've shown while I've been leading this consultation process and putting it all together. And an even bigger thank you to the volunteers, artists and committee members who have been carrying and caring for Rain Moth Gallery for many years before I wandered through the door.

There's so much worth building on here and we are only just getting started.

Take a walk through the gallery

Jill Bond Tapestry of Colour exhibition is now on display at the Rain Moth Gallery for SALA Festival

We’ve put together a collection of Jill’s major works, along with their titles and prices, for anyone who couldn’t make it to the opening, or for those who’d simply like another look.

From sweeping aerial views of the Murray to the rich reds of the Mallee, Jill’s paintings celebrate the landscapes that make this part of the world so unique and special.

If one catches your eye, we’d love to welcome you into the gallery to see it in person. There’s a special element about standing in front of an original painting that photographs can never quite capture.

Which one is your favourite? 👇

What a beautiful afternoon to celebrate SALA Festival and our new exhibition Tapestry of Colour opening.

It was wonderful to see so many faces gather at the gallery on a stunning winter afternoon to welcome local artist Jill Bond and her latest exhibition.

Jill’s vibrant collection will be on display throughout August and September, giving our community & visitors plenty of time to wander through, take in the detail and enjoy the colours & textures inspired by the Riverland landscape woven through each piece.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing some of Jill’s individual works, along with details and prices, so keep an eye on our page if something catches your eye.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today and continues to support local artists and the Rain Moth Gallery. We look forward to seeing welcoming you through our door.

Well… we certainly weren’t expecting this 😆

115 people took the time to complete our community survey.

THANKYOU Waikerie.

Every thoughtful response represents someone who cares enough to help shape the future of Rain Moth Gallery, and that’s something worth celebrating.

We’ll now spend some time listening to everything you’ve shared before reporting back to the community.

In the meantime, we’d love to see you at tomorrow’s opening of our new SALA Festival exhibition, Tapestry of Colour by Jill Bond
Tomorrow, Sunday 2nd at 2:00pm

And if you’ve been following along over the past few months, keep following.

😆 94 voices, and counting.

Firstly, thank you. To everyone who has taken a few minutes to complete our community survey, we’re genuinely grateful.

If you’ve been meaning to have your say but haven’t quite got around to it, this is your little reminder.

THE SURVEY CLOSES TOMORROW NIGHT

Whether you’re a regular visitor, an artist, volunteer, or you’ve never actually stepped inside Rain Moth Gallery before, we’d still love to hear from you.

In fact, if you’ve never visited, we’d especially love to know why. Understanding what’s stopping people from walking through our doors is just as important as hearing from those who already do.

The survey takes just 3–5 minutes:

And one last thing

There are some big exciting conversations happening behind the scenes at Rain Moth Gallery. We can’t share them just yet, but if you’ve ever thought about getting involved, whether as a volunteer, supporter or simply by following along, now feels like a pretty exciting time.

Thank you for helping shape what comes next. ✨ Waikerie Business Alliance District Council of Loxton Waikerie
