Tingari Arts of Central Australia is located in Alice Springs and works directly with Aboriginal artists from the Central and Western Deserts and has done since 2002. Our London Gallery holds regular exhibitions throughout the UK

Tingari Arts of Central Australia holds an incomparable collection of work from Artists of the Central, Western and Eastern Desert. We have close relationships with many

independent Aboriginal artists. Most of these artists are represented in major Australian art galleries as well as numerous International galleries. Provenance for artworks is confirmed by way of a detailed Authenticity Certificate. These Certificates provide the purchaser with information on the artist, the story of their painting (whilst respecting cultural sensitivities) and photographs of the artists with their paintings. The artworks are painted on prepared Belgian linen using polymer acrylics. Eastern Desert Art is an outback Indigenous online art gallery representing the work of significant Aboriginal artists from Utopia, Atitjere and Irriliree in central Australia. Situated at Red Gum 270kms north east of Alice Springs south of Arlparra, it is run by Sonja Chalmers, a third generation member of the Chalmers family living and working amongst the aboriginal people of Utopia.

Narputta Nangala is one of my most favourite people ever and I am happy she called me ‘granddaughter’.�

Narputta loved family, had a wonderful sense of humour, was gentle and a fantastic artist who is represented in the National Gallery of Australia, state galleries and many private collections.

Gloria’s Leaves Blowing in the Wind, Bush Medicine

Gloria, who is largely recognised as the most renowned of all female Aboriginal artists, was born c. 1945 near Boundary Bore on Utopia and was the second youngest daughter of seven girls. Her other sisters who also became leading artists were Kathleen, Ada, Nancy and Violet.

"It can look like mesmerising swirling leaves being blown by a restless wind"

In 2005 Gloria said she would like to paint a very large painting, that is 305cm x 183cm! Watching the beautiful work being created was a privilege I could not have imagined in my previous life.

Dr George Tjapaltjarri and Barney Campbell Tjakamarra��

Both Dr George and Barney, as important Pintupi elders, were responsible for initiating young men into law. During these important sacred and secret traditional men’s initiation ceremonies they revealed to initiates not only the knowledge connected to the Tingari cycle but also the related sacred sites located in their own traditional country.

Whilst painting they would both often sing, immersed in the ritual of painting the Tingari Cycles which included Men’s Business.

The real stories sung into their important paintings are not seen by the uninitiated, but they can be sensed.��

Pansy Napangati

Pansy Napangati was one of the first women to paint in her own right in the early 1970’s rather than assist male relatives painting for Papunya Tula Artists. As the company’s resources were only for senior male artists Pansy, initially, sold her work independently in Alice Springs.

In 1983 she began working with Papunya Tula Artists in her own right and by the late 1980’s Pansy was its foremost woman artist, and in 1989 winning the sixth National Aboriginal Art Award.

Pansy inherited many Dreamings from her parents including Seven Sisters, Bush Banana, Water Snake, Desert Raisin and Kungkakutjara (two women).
