Art Asia

Art Asia Art Asia has been established in beautiful Terrigal, Australia, to provide a high quality gallery presenting silk, silver and exceptional works of art.

Art Asia has been established in beautiful Terrigal, on the central coast of New South Wales, Australia, to provide a high quality gallery presenting silk, silver, handicrafts and original images in a unique gallery catering to the most discerning buyer. We also offer hand-made papers at rock bottom prices for local artists seeking a new medium for their work. Our opening collection has been sourc

ed from Vientiane and Luang Prabang, in the Lao PDR. Lao is one of the world's ten poorest countries, devastated by thousands of tons of unexploded bombs. Its peaceful, charming people make some of the world's finest silks, using age old methods passed down through generations. Silk is such an important part of Lao culture that we felt that you just have to see it. We also have statues and Hmong Hill Tribe bags from Hoi Anh in central Vietnam and Buddha statues from Chiang Mai, in northern Thailand. We have created a new gallery, but we intend to stay at this location for a very long time. Pay us a visit anytime. We're open seven days, right opposite one of Australia's most beautiful, and iconic, beaches. Regards
John and Anna

As well as scoring the oils of Peter Fennell in his first major exhibition on the Central Coast for 32 years, we are also exhibiting some sensational work by Katerina Apale, a lecturer in painting and artist from my late father's home town of Riga, Latvia.

(Jekaterina Apale) says, the fact that her mother was an artist explains why she started to paint before she could walk.

Throughout high school, art class was always a must and as soon as her final year had finished she enrolled at The Art Academy of Latvia, specializing in Textile Art, (a perfect fit for a Central Coast gallery based on its exquisite stock of Lao silk products).

Katerina's tertiary studies earned her Master of Arts in Humanities, before she went on to achieve a Master of Education at the Daugavpils University. In case you don't know, Daugavpils is one of the most beautiful cities on the Baltic.

Combining her two degrees, Katerina took on work as a lecturer at The Art Academy of Latvia before establishing her own art studio in Riga, where she shared her passion and artistic expertise with adults and children.

Katerina’s colourful works have hung in solo and group exhibitions in galleries all over the world in countries including Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Russia, Belarus, Austria, Germany, and now Australia.

In 2014 she migrated here with her family and has since immersed herself into the Australian art community and is now a member of the Central Coast Art Society. This year, her works have been exhibited as part of the Central Coast Artists Exhibition at Erina Fair Library, Central Coast Art Society Summer exhibition at Gosford Regional Gallery (Studio 2), at Glass Artists Gallery in Sydney, and now at Art Asia, in Crowne Plaza.

We were very lucky to score a few of Katerina Apale's acrylic on canvas pieces before they were sold to eager collectors. Check out these photographs.

Meanwhile, we reckon we have the Coast's biggest collection of sensational oils by Peter Fennell, and our new earrings, lacquer boxes, cotton toys and lanterns from the ancient city of Hoi Anh is a blast.

Much has happened at our gallery since my last post. We have taken a fantastic delivery of toys and jewellery from Hoi Anh, in Central Vietnam and have hung four new woodprints from Sone, in Vientiane, Laos.
I hate to say that we have sold the elephant on the lotus flower, which appears to the left of our main image. However, Art Asia has just accepted a consignment of four oil colours from award winning Australian artist, Peter Fennell.
This Romantic Expressionist has been painting professionally for over 30 years and during this time has had many successful individual and group shows and has received many prestigious art awards. Collectors from all Australian states have acquired his paintings, as have collectors from England, Saudi Arabia, Germany, France, New Zealand and the United States.
Peter is an exhibiting Member of the Royal Art Society of NSW. I don't think we'll have these sensational paintings for long: a discerning buyer will snap them up. Not only is Peter a great artist, he is a great bloke who has given us the paintings to sell at very fair prices.

We have been busy 'talking' to artists in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) and think we may be exhibiting this artist. These people are absolutely sensational, maybe because they are just smart...images coming soon.

What do you think of the colours and weave of our silk scarves? They are so hard to photograph because they change colour every time the light takes them at a different angle.
