🚂 Saturday 8 August 1959, large crowds watch on as locomotive 2010 hauls passengers cars on the final day of steam on the Carlingford Line. The Carlingford to Camellia service operated with electric suburban sets up until the lines closure two years ago.

The Carlingford railway line was a railway line in Sydney. It was opened from Clyde to Subiaco (later renamed Camellia) in January 1885, then by means of the construction of a bridge across the Parramatta River, to Carlingford in April 1896. It closed on 5 January 2020 with much of the line to be converted to light rail as part of the Parramatta Light Rail network, while a short section of the line was retained for use by Sydney Trains.

Back on 6 January 2020, in the early hours of the morning, the last ever train run from Carlingfrod. The Clyde to Carlingford railway was be closed and the northern part (from Camellia to Carlingford)is to be converted to light rail as part of the Parramatta light rail project.

The Carlingford line is a 7km long standard gauge electrified railway in Sydney's middle western suburbs that runs north from the junction with the main west line at Clyde, through Camellia to the terminus at Carlingford. The line opened in two stages, in 1885 from Clyde to Camellia, and in 1896 from Camellia to Carlingford.

The railway has now closed and the section from Camellia southwards via Rosehill Racecourse has been lifted. The northern 5km from Camellia to Carlingford will be converted to light rail and duplicated as part of the Parramatta Light rail project which is scheduled to open to passengers in 2023.
