This Sicilian variety, crafted with minimal sulphites, was fermented in traditional Indian clay pots (Kothi). Aromas of black cherry, plum, blackberry, and red currant mingle with delicate hints of violet and black pepper, while ripe fruit flavours and subtle earthy spice coat the palate.

2023 Alex Retief W**es - “Chilled Out Red” Shiraz, Gamay

Alex’s passion for w**e began in 1997, when his parents planted a vineyard in Gundagai. After spending several years working in some of the world’s most prestigious w**e regions, he launched his own label in 2008. This is an un-oaked w**e made in the style of a French ’Beaujolais’, showing crunchy red fruits with lots of freshness and bright acidity. Served chilled.

This one's leaving the w**e list soon, so you've got a couple of weeks to try it before it's gone. Come in for a glass while you still can.

We're back for the October round - pouring the same variety from NSW and from the other side of the planet, side by side, and letting your tastebuds do the judging, with our sommeliers pitching, not just pouring, sixty seconds each to convince you theirs deserves the win. No grape or region revealed until the votes are in.
