In 2015, JBD group were key in developing this display at the Milan 2015 Expo. The display structure contained more than 4,500 Glulam timber components, in excess of 5,000 custom made steel connection plates using over 15,000 connection bolts. The structure was detailed in Australia by JBD, manufactured in Malaysia, shipped to Milan, components cut and shaped in Italy and then installed for the Milan 2015 Expo. JBD’s ability to work collaboratively with an international design team on a world’s first structure of its type shows JBD’s innovation, technical depth and ability to bring to life a creative vision.

JBD group are in the final stages of the concrete panel detailing of “The Landmark” Project in Sydney. This project is a collaboration between Hutchinson Builders & Peak Precast utilising the Speed and Safety benefits of the innovative APTUS System. JBD’s ability to tailor our team to this new system quickly and efficiently will contribute significantly to the project’s success. Our team are currently using Tekla Software to detail 1450+ Precast Columns over 8 basement levels and 44 above ground floors.

Albury's award-winning Library Museum brings together state of the art technology, a focus on the city's heritage, engaging interactive exhibitions and the reading and research elements of a library.
JBD Group skills and expertise played an important role in the incorporation of the structural steel, precast concrete panels and elements of the finishing metalwork. This involved many complex assemblies to suit the flowing and morphing architecture of the building along with the many different finishes required. Our 3D modelling of all these elements ensured the successful installation on site.
The striking west façade on Kiewa Street draws on the architecture of the 1884 iron railway bridge over the Murray River. The large crosses clad in aluminium, progressively narrow to take the appearance of a bend in the river.
The steel fascia is discontinuous, its edge sliced back into itself at major roof junctions. Along the north facade, the slices are deep and wide enough to have produced a sequence of individual roof overhangs (or horizontal castellation). These hover above deep recesses between sloping concrete walls.

JBD Group 3D Laser Scanning - Take the guesswork out of it;

Step One - JBD Group undertake 3D laser scanning of the area. In this example a plant room
Step Two - We create a working 3D model from the 3D scan undertaken.
Step Three - We create 2D drawings of the plant room from the 3D model.

JBD Group were engaged to undertake several on-site 3D laser scanning of several plant rooms at this facility to produce as-built drawings of all the plant and equipment. The process was simple – this room was scanned in several hours and look at the results of the 3D model that was produced. A working 3D model and 2D drawings, accurate to within a few millimetres, fully dimensional, scalable and useable. Why do it any other way.

And that’s a wrap. Movember 2019 has come to an end. Well done to everyone involved. JBD managed to raise over $2000, moved a total of 587km all together and grown two Mo’s for an important cause. Well done team

This week Maddy organised an office wide trivia competition to raise money for Movember. Our team had 5 questions each day this week on various categories such as; World, Sports, Music, Health and Animals, It really tested everyone’s brain power.
Congratulations to the Youngest member of our team Callum who took out first place with Clint in second and Paul in third. A successful week here at JBD. Well done team

Opened in late 2018, the redeveloped Orygen building in Parkville is the new home for the globally recognised National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, alongside specialist mental health service provider Orygen Youth Health.
JBD group were proud to be involved in this project undertaking all the structural steel detailing and feature timber work, including balustrades, handrails and ceiling features – to do this, JBD Group undertook a detailed 3D scan of the new structure, ensuring a high level of accuracy for the design and detailing of the feature timber work.
The three-storey building has impressed design professionals far beyond our national borders, recently winning top honours for Best Mental Health Design at the European Healthcare Design awards against competitors from the Netherlands and Denmark.
The surrounding landscape is certainly reflected in the building design, with natural laminated timbers throughout and curved, irregular organic shapes evoking the sense of an arbour, a sheltered place inspiring reflection or conversation. As Judith Hemsworth describes, "it feels like trees are growing into the actual building."

The JBD team, family and friends got together on Sunday to mountain bike ride around Ewen Maddock Dam to show their support for Movember. All had a great morning as you can see by the pictures - it was so great to see so many people there. Raffle tickets are being sold and will be drawn this friday 29th November and donations were collected to raise money for a valuable cause, Movember
