Les’s Museum Tours is up and running against. Joe Goss gave us an invite down to his place to watch his boys bring in the harvest and check out his toys. Only five members could spare the time Vic, Trev, Irish, Elliot and myself but what a fabulous day with all of us taking turns in the New Holland Combine and John Deere Chase Tractor 🚜. It was amazing the rate the combine gobbled up the wheat and within 2 runs it had 7 ton in its hopper which it unloaded into the Chase Tractor without stopping. We couldn’t wipe the smile off young Elliot”s face while he was helping Joe’s grandson in the Chase Tractor. Joe’s collection of vintage tractors was impressive, spread over a couple of different properties and sheds. Time flys while you are enjoying yourself, so after a quick meal at the Darkan Cafe, we thanked Joe and his wife Carole for sparing time while their sons and grandsons showed us how a modern farm works.
Many thanks Joe

Jarrahdale Log Chop on 5th October was a great day for our Museum. The rain held off luckily. The display was very popular. We had one failure with the large 4hp OLDS engine, after 30 minutes of running the magneto quadrant broke when some old welds let go. Still the Rosebery drag saw kept the audience interested with numerous queries. Neil and Keith's engine ran all day without a hitch but the OLDS will require some modification so into Les's workshop it will go, where it will be returned to it's original Buzz coil configuration and redesigning the water cooling system. Overall a successful show but some engines will need a bit of love and attention back at the Museum.

On 17th September we celebrated our 32nd Anniversary.
We hosted the Manning family, SJ Shire, Hugh Jones, Examiner newspaper and many members and volunteers attended around 55-60 people altogether.
A light lunch was served in the Clem Kentish Hall bext door for ease of space
Photos are just coming through now and I can share some here with you 📸

The Museum hosted a group of children and their teachers recently.
As you can see they were very excited to watch the old Field Marshall being started (and yes, it is VERY LOUD) which is why these youngsters thought it was spectacular (much like a car backfiring) 😄

Hello Food and Farm Fest Organisers and Serpentine Community

The Hugh Manning Tractor and Machinery Museum had a most enjoyable day at the Festival.
It was one of the best events the Museum has attended.
Except the early morning rain held us up for a while.

The Museum’s wagon train of tractors and trailers wound their way down to the Pony Club on Karnup Road without any incidents.

The Event Organisers were excellent and had repositioned us up towards the front with our fencing being just enough for our 10 mtr square compound.

Diane was quick off the mark along with young Aiden in getting the marquee up just as the heavens opened with a shower.

The display of the large Wilson engine drew in a lot of interest with the flame from the blow lamp and the starting method of muscle man Aiden throwing the flywheel over.

Many thanks to Dan for taking the Wilson down on his car trailer, Trev and Rob driving the tractors and Keith and Neil with their 2 hit and miss engines, Dan took his model racing car and aero engine, Dudley and Aiden with their 2 stationary engines and last but not least a special thanks to Guy and Denise who held the fort back at the Museum while we played with our toys.
A most enjoyable day all round 🚜🏎️⚙️🔩⛓️🚜
