We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the Jewish community in Australia, after the terrible massacre of Jews at Bondi Beach, by Islamic jihadists.
Australia's Bible Museum has a window display about the festival of Hannukah, to show our support at this tragic time. The story of Hanukkah is told in the books of the First and Second Maccabees. These Jewish history books are in Greek Bibles, and the Apocrypha, and were in the early English Bibles, including the 1611 King James Bible.
Jesus Christ visited Jerusalem at the feast of the dedication (Hannukah), in winter. He walked in the temple in Solomon's porch. (John 10:22,23)
Hanukkah, “the festival of lights”, or “feast of dedication”, commemorates the recovery of Jerusalem and subsequent re-dedication of the Second Temple following the Jewish Maccabean Revolt against the Grecian Seleucid Empire in the 2nd century BC.
