Today we mark 114 years since the first train ran between Rosewood and Marburg, officially opening the Marburg railway line and forever changing the region it served.
From its earliest days, the line played a vital role in connecting local industries, farms and communities to the wider Queensland rail network. For Marburg and Rosewood, the railway was more than transport, it was a lifeline, shaping growth, livelihoods and everyday life for generations.
The Rosewood Railway proudly stands today as a reminder of this rich railway heritage, preserving the stories, infrastructure and spirit of the line that once echoed with steam, whistles and hard-working trains.
As we reflect on this milestone, we acknowledge the railway workers, passengers, and local communities who made the Marburg Line such an important chapter in Queensland’s rail history.
Here’s to 114 years of history, connection and community, and to ensuring these stories continue to be remembered and shared into the future.
