We last posted in August of 2023, and a lot has happened since then. First of all, Linda and Christina officially resigned last year, but they stayed on and helped us finish the final job in December. Board of Directors decisions placed the art group in a position that made them realize they had taken the art group as far as they could go.

WRAG's Chairperson Nana Violet Samson made the difficult decision to permanently close the art group, and asked us to inform everyone on our social media accounts.

We request that people cease calling the number they have for the art group immediately, as it was never WRAG's, but a number and phone on loan to us. Nana Violet Samson should be contacted for any further information regarding the art group.

Thank you to all our supporters over the years, especially Rio Tinto, who was one of our major sponsors for many years who helped us on our amazing journey. We hoped the journey would never end, but 2023 proved fatal for us as it did for so many other small businesses in Australia.

Thank you so much for such an amazing ride.

Ikuntji Artists are bringing their latest collection to Country to Couture in August 😱

They're are a not-for-profit Art Centre situated in the community of Haasts Bluff in Central Australia. Their vibrant and diverse textile designs may be recognised from Australian Fashion Week, Yokayi Footy, NAIDOC and the Logie Awards.

Ikuntji Artists are proud to share their stories from their home through fabric and design. This collection elevates old design traditions into something that is accessible and contemporary while sharing stories of ceremony, Country, and culture.

"During ceremony on the Tiwi Islands a series of 'yoi' (dances), are performed; some are totemic inherited from the person's Mother) and some serve to act out the narrative of newly composed songs. Participants in these ceremonies are painted with turtiyanginari (the different natural ochre colours)...

Have you watched ‘The Dark Emu Story’ yet?

The documentary by Blackfella Films and Muruwari Gomeroi Director Allan Clarke, about Bruce Pascoe’s incredible book is now available to watch on iview.

We think this line from Stan Grant sums it up perfectly.

‘I think what Bruce did… he spoke into that void, closed his eyes, and stood in the silence in the land and said close your eyes, imagine this country again...’

Congrats to everyone involved.
