Embedded Threads - Jake Yang

We had another lovely opening on a balmy summer's night.

This exhibition is an installation of ceramic tiles featuring impressions of Chinese decorative placemats. Traditional decorative elements are reframed through a contemporary lens to reflect Yang's experience as a third generation Chinese-Australian. Through the process of creating the tiles, Yang re-embraces a neglected cultural identity.

The exhibition runs from now until 21 March. Pop in and buy yourself a beautiful work or just immerse yourself in the gorgeous art.

We have a few spaces left in our kids art classes for Term 1

Ella from BLIP Art School is joining us once again to run weekly art classes for kids aged 6-12 years.

Ella has over 10 years of experience creating spaces for children to explore their creativity, develop concept development skills, and try many different materials and art styles.

She uses art to inspire young minds to be curious, use problem-solving skills, and take pride in originality.

City of Prospect has engaged Blip Art School to run our children's art classes and we are very excited to havethese classes back to Prospect!

ON NOW

Treasured: Annette Bezor (1950 - 2020)
Curated by Sarah Northcott

This exhibition is a rare opportunity to view and acquire a curated selection of Annette Bezor's works from her estate.

Bezor was well-known for her large-scale depictions of feminine forms and achieved critical and commercial success nationally and internationally in her lifetime.

Why Newmarch Gallery? Annette Bezor did an artist residency in the original Prospect Gallery in 1990. During this time in the studio she shared her work and insights into her practice and spent time mentoring young up and coming artists.

We thank Sarah Northcott for her work in pulling together a cohesive selection of works as well as some rarely seen memorabilia for the exhibition.

All proceeds of sales are donated to Minton Farm Rescue Centre and Freedom Hill Sanctuary.
