Steamtown is currently temporarily closed, and we know this has been a great disappointment to many. Please know that we truly understand how much Steamtown means to our community and visitors ❤️

We are working towards reopening, and when we do, it will be under a new system designed to help us operate more smoothly and create an even better experience for everyone. Sorting this out is taking some time, but it’s important to us that when we reopen, we do it properly.

A lot of changes have been happening behind the scenes, and while we can’t share everything just yet, we’re excited to surprise our Steamtown fans with what’s to come — including how and when things will operate moving forward.

Please don’t give up hope. We deeply appreciate all the support, patience, and encouragement you’ve shown us. Our team is working tirelessly to improve and reopen as soon as we can.

We apologise for the quiet period on this page — with the holidays and a lot happening as we organise our reopening, it’s been a busy time.
👉 Please keep following the page for updates, and thank you again for standing by us. We can’t wait to welcome you back when the time comes 🚂✨

🚂 Welcome to 2026! 🚂
Happy New Year from Steamtown.
Make sure to keep an eye on this page for upcoming updates, events, and news throughout the year.

Tell us — how did you spend your Christmas holidays?

As many of you have noticed from yesterday’s event posts, we’d like to confirm that Steamtown is still temporarily closed.
There are no tours or Sound and Light Shows running until next year (2026).

We do, however, open occasionally for large bookings or special events — such as yesterday’s Just a Farmer film and book launch with Jeff Nobel. It was a fantastic day with a great turnout for everyone involved!

We appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to reopening soon so that everyone can come and visit us again. 🚂✨

🌿 Keeping Our Community Spaces Looking Great! 🌿

Our team has been working hard this week to keep our town’s open spaces tidy and welcoming. Rotary Park lawns have just been freshly mowed (pictured below) and the Skate Park lawns have also been given attention this week.

We know how much our community values clean, well-maintained spaces for families, young people, and visitors to enjoy.

Thank you to our outdoor staff for their efforts in maintaining these areas for everyone.
