Welcome to the final edition of Newman Being. From next year, it will be replaced by Newman Hearts, a new College magazine produced outside of Archives and Alumni Engagement, which had two issues published this year, and reflects the communication style the College is moving towards.

It was a pleasure to speak for Newman College at the Educate Plus WA Summit yesterday, about the significance of archives and the inherent power within to build identity, forge and foster connection with alumni and, sometimes, heal.

Entitled 'Preserving and Promoting Your Institution’s History / Growing Your Archives by Engaging Your Alumni', I shared simple, practical strategies for bringing an archives to life through both active and passive engagement with your students as well as your alumni.

I emphasised the more we connect the two, the stronger both become.

Thanks to Educate Plus WA and everyone who came along, engaged, patiently waited to ask their questions, and shared their own stories.
