The wonderful Southern Tablelands Arts, a proud supporter of the Penrose Art Exhibition since its inception, is presenting a members' exhibition, Postcards from Paradise: Wish You Were Here!, from 2 October to 15 November at Connect@Gunning Station.

I’m thrilled to have been given the privilege of curating this exhibition, which will feature potentially hundreds of postcard sized artworks.

As many of you are already Southern Tablelands Arts members (and if you're not, membership is free), I’d love to see lots of entries from our Penrose Art Exhibition community.

• Works can be 2D or 3D
• Size: 11 cm × 15 cm (or up to 11 cm × 15 cm × 11 cm for 3D works)
• Entry is free
• Register via the Southern Tablelands Arts link below

It is with great sadness that I relay the news of the passing of Ken McDonald this morning, a much-loved man; sculptor, painter, stonemason, raconteur and friend.

Ken was a keen participant in the Penrose Art Exhibition from the beginning, exhibiting paintings in all four shows. His stone sculptures stand sentinel throughout the Southern Highlands, silently acknowledging visitors in Penrose, Bundanoon and Wingello.

Ken will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Impromptu Abstract Art Workshop

At Friday night’s fabulous Opening Night Soiree, our special guest speaker, Kristin Coburn, artist and director of the School of Fine Art, Mosman, has announced that she will be holding a one-off, impromptu abstract art workshop at the Penrose Village Hall on Saturday 18th April at 1pm.

Kristin is a passionate artist and art educator who lives, and loves, to share her skills and insights into the creative process that she considers so essential to a happy and fulfilling life.

Bring along your own art materials and surfaces if you have them, limited equipment will be available to use at no charge. Learn from a life-long, celebrated artist about creating abstract works of art.

This workshop is free of charge and no need to book. From 1pm, it will run for approximately 2 hours.

This workshop will not be repeated so don’t miss out.

*Donations gladly accepted to help support the arts based in Penrose.
