Nundle Woollen Mill

Nundle Woollen Mill Nundle Woollen Mill, one of the few spinning mills still operating in Australia. Australian Made, of course! The famous Nundle socks are hard to pass up!

Nundle Woollen Mill is one of the last spinning mills still operating in Australia. The Nundle Mill team use traditional spinning machinery, several pieces nearly 100 years old, to transform raw wool into famous Nundle knitting yarn in 8 ply, 12 ply & 20 ply. Nundle Woollen Mill is a must-see attraction for travellers visiting Nundle. The mill attracts almost 30,000 visitors each year who see the

antique machinery in work. Also available is a beautiful selection of hand knits and Australian designer wool fashion. Guided group tours for community or educational groups can be arranged by appointment. Retail and fashion store.

There are moments when we stop, read your reviews, and feel genuinely overwhelmed.

You write about the softness and quality of our wool.
The warmth of the service.
The joy of visiting Nundle.
The excitement of opening a parcel.
The colours. The craftsmanship. The care. The feeling.

You tell us our yarn becomes baby blankets, heirlooms, winter jumpers, gifts, scarves, socks, creative projects, and treasured memories shared across generations.

Some of you have visited the mill in person. Some discovered us online from thousands of kilometres away. Some of you have been with us for years. Others are just finding us for the first time.

But every order, every kind word, every recommendation, every review matters deeply to us.

Because the truth is this:

You are the reason this mill continues turning.

Your support helps preserve Australian wool, regional manufacturing, handmade craftsmanship, and a slower, more meaningful way of making things.

In a world of mass production and fast consumption, you continue choosing quality, authenticity, creativity, and community. We never take that for granted.

Thank you for supporting Nundle Woollen Mill.
Thank you for supporting regional Australia.
Thank you for believing in what we do.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our story.

There’s something quietly beautiful about undyed yarn.
Before the colour. Before the pattern. Before the finished piece held in your hands, there is fibre in its purest form. Soft merino. Brushed alpaca. Cotton bamboo. Natural textures waiting to become something meaningful.

At Nundle Woollen Mill, we are continually inspired by the creativity of our community. Knitters, crocheters, hand dyers, weavers, and makers who transform our undyed yarn into works of extraordinary craftsmanship and individuality.

NEW YARN ALERT !!

50% cotton & 50% bamboo 4 ply

For those who love our 100% cotton and those who love our Merino & Bamboo, we have come up with a new blend that is all plant based. Introducing our cotton & bamboo blend in a 4 ply yarn (400m per 100g hank).

And it’s beautiful, it has the brightness of the cotton and the sheen of the bamboo. When dyed, it take on a very interesting mix of intensity with shine, we know you will love it.

We’ve had a new tour group arrive at the mill…

No bookings, no shoes, and a lot of quacking

Mother duck brought along her 10 little ducklings, we’re still trying to work out if they’re here for the wool, the tour or just a rest in the shade.

We run tours at 11:00AM & 2:00PM, Monday to Friday, for humans, often dogs and now ducks.

Poetry in motion
Built by the Platt Co. in 1914 at Oldham England, our beautiful old card tinkers away every week producing the lovely yarns Nundle is renown for. The sounds of the many moving parts of this historic machine remind us of a time well past.
