The expanded Enigmatic Drawings archive is now live.

The redesigned and expanded website brings together the Genesis, Matrix and Origins series with new AI-assisted analysis, more than 200 historical audience responses, a detailed Artwork Buying Guide, and reorganised Premium Print and Fine Art Limited Edition collections.

The purpose of the analysis is not to impose a definitive interpretation. It provides another way of examining the recurring geometry, symbolic relationships, script-like fields, biological structures and cosmological forms embedded throughout the drawings.

The new archive offers several ways to enter the project: through close visual study, its history, audience responses, exhibition context or the available artwork formats.

First Series — Genesis is composed of 18 sequential drawings, unfolding through a number of distinct but interconnected visual segments.

Genesis 1–5 form the opening segment within that larger sequence.

Across these first five drawings, symbolic forms, layered structures and shifting viewpoints begin to organise themselves around the human head and body. Genesis 5 brings that opening progression into a complete standing figure, allowing the body to emerge as a symbolic map, vessel and structural framework.

This is not the conclusion of Genesis.

As the sequence continues through drawings 6–18, the imagery becomes increasingly complex, expansive and encompassing. The focus moves beyond the individual human form to include the Earth, planetary structures and broader galactic and cosmological themes.

The accompanying video brings Genesis 1–5 together as the first stage of that wider unfolding journey.

Genesis #4 — The Whole Figure

The first three Genesis drawings remained focused on the head: front, back and profile.

Genesis #4 steps back to the complete human figure and brings two of those earlier viewpoints together. One figure faces forward; the other faces away.

Between them runs a vertical sequence of celestial, geometric and symbolic forms. Fine projecting lines connect the figures to an apex above and a base below, holding the entire composition within a shared visual field.

Created by hand in 2001, incrementally and without a predetermined compositional plan, Genesis #4 marks an important expansion in the series—from individual views of the head to the body situated within a broader symbolic structure.

The glyph-like script remains unresolved.

Genesis #3 — Where the Drawing Becomes a Diagram

The first three drawings in the Genesis series form a clear sequence of perspectives.

Genesis #1 presented the human head from the front.

Genesis #2 turned to the back of the head, revealing a hidden geometric structure.

Genesis #3 now shows the head in profile.

The side view introduces a different internal organisation. The cranial field remains densely inscribed with the unknown script, but branching lines now spread through it like roots, vessels or pathways. Dotted arcs curve around the head in measured sequences, suggesting movement, circulation or orbit.

The most significant development appears beneath the profile.

A separate notation register contains rows of waveforms, beaded chains, dotted sequences and paired symbols, arranged almost like a legend, key or read-out.

This is what makes Genesis #3 distinctive.

The earlier drawings can still be approached as symbolic portraits. Genesis #3 begins to behave more like a technical page or diagram—a human head accompanied by its own system of notation.

Together, the first three drawings establish a front–back–side sequence:

• visible witness
• hidden structure
• internal pathways and notation

A portrait, or a diagram?

Genesis #3 is the first of these drawings that seems to come with its own key.

Created 29–31 January 2001.

First Series / Genesis #2
The hidden architecture behind awareness

We are revisiting the Genesis series one drawing at a time.

Some works may be explored across more than one post where a particular detail genuinely adds something. Others will be presented once, in full. The purpose is to allow each drawing to reveal its own structure without forcing every work into the same format.

Genesis #2 turns away from the viewer.

Where Genesis #1 confronted us with a frontal face and direct gaze, this drawing shows the back of the head. With no face to meet, attention shifts from visible identity to what might lie behind perception.

The cranial field is filled with the same unknown script seen in Genesis #1, but here it is organised within a star-like geometric network. Lines connect the centre to a series of nodal points positioned around the head, creating the impression of an internal framework or hidden system.

Faint concentric arches extend beyond the skull, while larger glyph-like forms occupy the surrounding space.

Together, Genesis #1 and #2 establish two complementary views:

visible witness and hidden structure
front and back
emanation and containment
awareness and the architecture behind it

Created 27–28 January 2001.

Does Genesis #2 feel more like a map of the mind, a symbolic anatomy, or something else entirely?

**20 January 2001 — Genesis #1**

This is where the Genesis sequence begins.

At its centre is a frontal human face, but it does not behave like an ordinary portrait. The head is inscribed with a fine unknown script that follows the contours of the face. A small wheel-like structure sits at the brow, above which the forehead opens into a fan of radiating lines. Small glyph-like forms occupy the surrounding field.

What is striking is how much of the later visual language is already present in this first work: the human figure, symmetry, script, circular structures and radiating geometry.

The dedicated Genesis #1 page includes the complete artwork, a concise structural reading, an expanded interpretation and a plain-English overview.

The first article on the Enigmatic Drawings blog has been published.

It introduces Enigmatic Drawings as a spontaneous hand-drawn archive of symbolic and geometric artworks, begun in 2001 and developed over more than a decade.

The article explains why the drawings are described as an archive that “behaves like a system,” how the work differs from AI-generated art, and how the Genesis, Matrix, and Origins series fit together.
