Another fantastic day of teamwork on the Derwent Valley Railway!

Our dedicated volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into ongoing track maintenance, working together to improve the railway one section at a time. From loosening and adjusting rail fittings to inspecting and maintaining the track, every task completed today helps preserve this important piece of Tasmania's railway heritage.

Days like these are a great reminder that restoring and maintaining a heritage railway is a team effort. Every volunteer brings different skills, experience and enthusiasm, and together we're making steady progress towards our long-term goals.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave up their time to help today. Your commitment, hard work and passion for the railway are what keep the Derwent Valley Railway moving forward.

🚂 Volunteer Update – Another Productive Week at Derwent Valley Railway 👏

Our volunteers have been hard at work across a range of projects this week.

🔨 Ted has been repairing the guttering for National Park Station, helping to protect the building for years to come.

🛠️ Elicontinues his fantastic work restoring the ABL, with steady progress being made on this important restoration project.

🎨 Lyn has been busy cleaning and organising the paint supplies in the container, making it easier for volunteers to find what they need and keeping everything in good order.

🛤️ George and Kiran have also completed work on the railway line this week, another great achievement that contributes to the ongoing improvement of our railway.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers for their dedication and hard work. Every task, big or small, helps preserve and grow the Derwent Valley Railway.

Volunteer in the Spotlight – Matthew Davey

Today , the Derwent Valley Railway is proud to recognise Matthew Davey as our Volunteer in the Spotlight.

As Chair and Operations Manager, he provides leadership, practical knowledge, and countless volunteer hours to help ensure the continued growth and success of the organisation.

Eli and Matthew are spearheading the ongoing restoration efforts of the ABL, whilst Mark oversees lawn maintenance. All hands are involved in the track work, driving steady progress. Lyn has a new display of souvenir cups available for purchase.
