Our SWN students were working very efficiently on their set projects today, and they should be very proud of themselves. It was a super team effort. Thank you, volunteers Jamie and George, for mentoring the students.

32 students and two teachers from the University of Tasmania attended a tour of our railway led byMaurice and Lyn. The students were totally intrigued by the tour; many questions were answered, and they now have a better understanding of the economics of how the railway has survived by raising money, its history and today's future planning.

Welcome back to the sunshine, now the weather is suitable to get back on with the exterior painting. George and Lynette are returning to the Stations to complete the work they had started earlier on this year, to see the Westerway and National Park stations looking its best for future DVR projects. National Park Station is first then Westerway station when approved is granted.

Busy Friday with the our SWN students becoming familiarised with their work spaces and learning challenges set out by their mentors. Matthew tutored in mechanical principals in a classroom group while George introduced the standard workplace safety use with grinders.

Also a group of architectural students from a Sydney University made a visit today as a study project guided by Lynette and Maurice. The students were visualising a future mapping of architectural building, gardens beds, roads crossing, parking spaces, railway lines etc. The mapping layout on our railway facilities could be quite useful and maybe a fantastic plan for our future development.

Maurice, our volunteer and mentor, is introducing our latest class of high school students to our community workplace and workshop where they’ll gain knowledge, tutoring, and hands-on experience over the next six weeks through the Southcentral Workforce Network (SWN) and the Derwent Valley Railway (DVR).
Much appreciated to our mentors: Greg, Andrew (supervisor), Matthew, Steve, Maurice, and Jamie.
