If you are around the central west of Queensland and you are looking to learn about the history of our area, check out Muttaburra.
The Union Hole - learn about the history of the Shearers' Strike of 1891 that was one of the most important industrial disputes seen by the country.
Visit the Exchange hotel and explore the area in a history and photo exhibition of the town.
10-11am: visit the Cassimatis Store and Cottage museum for a yesteryear view of commerce in this tiny town.
11am to 12.30: visit the Muttaburra's Dr Arratta hospital museum: a living reminder of how medicine was delivered from the late 1800's to the 1970's. When you step inside, you'd think the corridors were still steeped in the footfalls of staff and patients.

Centre of Queensland monument for the town closest to the centre of Queensland. You'll get a graphic idea of the boom and bust nature of rain and drought cycles in this unforgiving environment.
On the sculpture track you will see sculptures that tell the story of events of the town. Don't miss the amazing sculpture of the horse delving board drains, the Mootaburra couple (original tribe from the area) or the captivating Mootaburra warrior.
In the main street, make sure to visit the Muttaburrasaurus Interpretation Centre to learn about the dinosaur Muttaburrasaurus Langdoni (first discovered in Muttaburra).

Make sure you pop out to the Great Shearers Shearers Strike exhibit at the Muttaburra's Union Hole. The Shearers Strike resulted in the formation of the Australian Labour Party. The union hole locale has lots of information about the strike, the parties involved, info on how the camps were organised. Shearers came by horse, pushbike and on foot around the district, so check out the awesome relief scultpures and the shear sculpture in memory of this incredible period in Australian history.
