Jonine and John have lived in the hills for 6 years, this is where they have decided to spend the rest of their lives. They have brought with them from Melbourne a unique skill set. Jonine a second-generation antiques and collectables dealer and John (aka Giovanni) barista and chef.
Jonine still maintains a family business in Melbourne. It is none other than the iconic “Chapel Street Bazaar” in Chapel Street, Prahran, Victoria, which was founded by Carol and Gordon McKee in 1983, well known by many collectors and dealers throughout Australia and internationally. The “Chapel Street Bazaar” was unique in its setup, with the dealers now 75 in number, being involved in the day to day running of the place. A much-copied model here and overseas. None however have stood the test of time that the Bazaar has weathered.
Imagine a huge premises full of 75+ antiques, vintage and collectable dealers who lease space, along with others who lease cabinets and sell whatever kooky, collectable, old stuff they have that falls under the title of “antique,” (100 years +) to vintage (old but not antique), to collectable (does not have to be old but needs to be limited and have a market to make it collectable.) This is the Bazaar, full of so many unique and wonderful people, some of whom are still with the Bazaar some 36 years later. The Bazaar is so iconic, it was pre tech, pre websites, facebook etc and still maintains its non tech identity, if you want to see it, you just need to go to 217 - 223 Chapel Street, Prahran, Victoria. Rated one of the most sought out destinations with Tourist Victoria. There is no cheats way to see this business, you just need to take yourself in and enjoy the journey.
It is here that Jonine remains the captain of the ship of the weird and wonderful Chapel Street Bazaar, with her loyal and trusty dealers and staff that make up the fabulous vibe at the Bazaar. A true master in her craft as a second-generation antiques dealer. Jonine has been involved with antiques her whole life. It would be very rare is she could not help you with a valuation on something or the best course of action to take to get a valuation on an item for you. It’s like your very own “Antiques Roadshow” in your backyard if you live in Perth.
