📣📣📣Community Call Out 📣📣📣 – WWII Greece & Crete Campaign Connections

As part of Mudgee Arts Precinct’s upcoming exhibition LUSTRE: Contemporary Artists in Greece & Crete, we are seeking information about servicemen and women from our region who were involved in, or connected to, the Greece and Crete campaigns during the Second World War.

We would love to hear from community members who have stories, memories, photographs, letters, or memorabilia to share. These contributions may be included in the exhibition to help honour and tell the stories of those connected to this important chapter of history.

If you or your family have any information you would like to contribute, please get in touch with us.

🎨 Take a turn off the ordinary…

There’s a place where the Mudgee landscape bends into the unexpected – where hills hum with stories, characters appear out of nowhere, and humour quietly challenges the way we see the world.

Up the Golden Highway by Chris O’Doherty (Reg Mombassa) isn’t just an exhibition – it’s a journey.

From sunburnt paddocks to surreal, satirical scenes, every work invites you to pause, wander and get a little lost in the details. You might laugh, you might question, you’ll definitely look twice.

This is the Australia you know… but not quite as you’ve seen it before.

🚗✨ Up the Golden Highway… and into a world of imagination

What happens when the landscapes of Mudgee, Cassilis and the Australian psyche collide with humour, satire and a touch of the surreal?

Step inside Up the Golden Highway and wander through the unmistakable world of Chris O’Doherty (aka Reg Mombassa) – where suburban life meets dreamlike storytelling, and the everyday becomes extraordinary.

Expect bold lines, unexpected characters, and a uniquely Australian lens that’s equal parts playful, philosophical and a little bit irreverent.

From iconic Mambo designs to deeply personal interpretations of the region, this exhibition invites you to slow down, look closer, and maybe even see your surroundings in a whole new way.

Whether you’re an art lover, a curious explorer, or just looking for something different to experience this weekend — this is your invitation.
