The Poimena Gallery, situated beside the chapel at the main entrance to the Launceston Church Grammar School was established in 1999. The century - old building also houses the entire Launceston Church Grammar Senior School Art Department. The gallery seeks to generate an awareness of contemporary arts practice by maintaining an inclusive programme that encourages innovation and community particip

ation. It promotes artists and their practice by providing opportunities for exhibitions that challenge and extend the range of arts experiences available to students and the wider community. Further details of exhibitions are available from Paul Snell on 6336 6039.

Jodie Whalen, Stranger in Paradise, fabric prints.

Imagery of the physical world, objects, light, ocean and sky are replicated and distorted. Meaning moves through, and translates between forms, signifying time and transformation.

'There are No Straight Lines' is on show at Poimena Gallery, final day tomorrow, Thursday 18 September.
