Things are going up!!! Mundaring Hills Open Studios opens Saturday!!!

From offcuts to opportunities… what would YOU make? 🌊✨

We’ve been having a bit of fun with our waterjet cutter in the studio, cutting all sorts of shapes from glass, including these gorgeous manta rays!

And it’s got me thinking… WORKSHOPS!

What if you could come into the studio, choose a precut glass shape, decorate it with your own colours, patterns and designs, and have it kiln-fired to create your very own piece of glass art?

The manta rays are just one possibility, but there are so many shapes we could play with!

🐠 Fish and other sea creatures
🌸 Flowers, leaves and botanical shapes
🦋 Butterflies, birds and insects
🌙 Moons, stars and abstract shapes
🏡 Or something completely different!

💦 A little water, a lot of glass… and a few manta rays! 🌊

It’s been a busy few days in the studio, putting our waterjet cutter to work!

We’ve been cutting LOTS of circles in all sorts of sizes, along with some rather beautiful manta rays that I’m very excited to develop further.

There’s something quite mesmerising about watching a high-pressure jet of water and abrasive cut through sheets of glass, creating shapes that would be incredibly difficult to achieve by hand.

And while the waterjet does the heavy lifting, this is really just the beginning. Each piece still has a journey ahead of it — colour, pattern, kiln firing, shaping and finishing before it becomes something special.

Many of those circles are destined for The Living Palette of Western Australia, my evolving collection inspired by the colours, textures, forms and landscapes of this extraordinary part of the world.

And the manta rays? Well, they’re the beginning of another little creative adventure! 🌊

With Mundaring Hills Open Studios opening 17–25 October, things are getting very busy around here. I can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on.

We’ve recently finished installing three of my glass panels into the partitions in our garden.

I wanted them to catch the changing light, frame small views and eventually become part of the surrounding planting. The existing garden bed isn’t native, but now that the panels are finally in place, the next stage will be replacing it with Western Australian natives.

I’m looking forward to choosing plants that complement the colours and movement in the glass—and watching the installation gradually settle into the garden as everything grows around it.
