PowerWorks PowerWorks is a centre dedicated to the power industry with educational and interactive displays. Other days by appointment. Entry $5.00 for adults.

PowerWorks has been gifted to the local community by AGL Loy Yang, GDF Suez Hazelwood and Energy Australia Yallourn. PowerWorks Holdings Ltd, a not-for-profit community organisation, manages PowerWorks on behalf of the community. With the current winter weather conditions, tomorrow is a good day to consider visiting our PowerWorks indoor exhibition to learn more about the “journey” and history of electricity production and generation in the Latrobe Valley since 1922.

Yes, we are “OPEN” again tomorrow from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. With it currently being School Holidays, a visit to PowerWorks is an ideal option for families and individuals to experience, especially during inclement weather conditions.
Everyone will be warmly greeted by our friendly Visitors Centre volunteers.
PowerWorks is situated at Ridge Road, Morwell, just up the hill from the unique and historic coal-winning Dredger 21 exhibit.
The Visitors Centre provides everyone with a good educational understanding of the electricity industry journey over the years since 1921 by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria, and the more recent era of private enterprise ownership. More information on our website: www.powerworks.net.au
“Self-guided” tours, over our Visitors Centre’s two floor levels are able to be experienced. Also included are a broad range of inter-active “hands-on” and static displays “on show” for visitors of all ages to explore.

VISITORS CENTRE “OPEN”: Saturday 20th June 2026 (1pm to 3pm)
Our Visitors Centre, situated at Ridge Road, Morwell will again be “OPEN” tomorrow Saturday, 20th June, from 1pm to 3pm.
As always, visitors will be warmly welcomed and should allow at least an hour to take full advantage of all features.
The “visitors experience” will be a memorable one as the Visitors Centre displays the history of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria’s coal production and electricity generation industry in the Latrobe Valley.
The broad range of inter-active “hands-on” and static displays “on show” aim to provide visitors of all ages, with a greater understanding of the electricity generation industry, since coal was first discovered in the Latrobe Valley in 1873, through to the current “privatisation” era.
“Self-guided” tours, over the Visitors Centre’s two floor levels are available, and included also, is the opportunity to experience a short power industry video presentation, which is screened in our comfortable theatrette.
Ample car parking is available, which includes panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Come along and visit our PowerWorks Visitors Centre tomorrow at Ridge Road, Morwell, to enjoy a nostalgic and educational power generation experience. Visitors will receive a very warm welcome from our Visitors Centre volunteers.
The Visitors Centre provides everyone with a good historical understanding of the electricity industry “journey” since 1921, by the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria, especially in the Latrobe Valley.
“Self-guided” tours, over the Visitors Centre’s two floor levels can be experienced. As well, there are a broad range of inter-active “hands-on” and static displays “on show” for visitors of all ages to experience.
At the entry to Ridge Road, Dredger 21 is situated for viewing. This is one of the former “fleet” used for “coal winning” to fuel both the Morwell and Hazelwood Power Stations, along with the Morwell Briquette Factory.
Ample car parking is available, which includes panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Come and experience the history and role of the former “State-owned” State Electricity Commission of Victoria’s coal winning and electricity generation industry in the Latrobe Valley.
“Self-guided” tours, over our Visitors Centre’s two floor levels are available. Also included are a broad range of inter-active “hands-on” and static displays “on show” for visitors of all ages to experience.
Dredger 21, which was one of the “fleet” used for “coal winning”, is also located nearby for viewing as well.
Ample car parking is available, which includes panoramic views of the surrounding area.
