PowerWorks PowerWorks is a centre dedicated to the power industry with educational and interactive displays. Other days by appointment. Entry $5.00 for adults.

PowerWorks has been gifted to the local community by AGL Loy Yang, GDF Suez Hazelwood and Energy Australia Yallourn. PowerWorks Holdings Ltd, a not-for-profit community organisation, manages PowerWorks on behalf of the community. The voluntary Board of PowerWorks Holdings Ltd are dedicated to making the facility an exciting, major tourist attraction; a unique place where visitors can gain an accurate, balanced understanding of energy, electricity, brown coal history, development and future uses of this state asset. PowerWorks is open on the 1st and 3rd Saturday's each month, except for Public Holidays from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Children under 15 years are free. Concession Card Holder, Seniors Card and Students over 15 years $2.50. Ample car and coach parking. Please Note PowerWorks will not open on 'Code Red Days'

VISITORS CENTRE “OPEN”: Saturday 3rd October 2026
Our Visitors Centre, situated at Ridge Road, Morwell will again be “OPEN” on Saturday, 3rd October, from 1pm to 3pm.
As always, visitors will be warmly welcomed and should allow at least an hour to take full advantage of all features on display.
The “visitors experience” will be a memorable one as the Visitors Centre displays the history of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria’s coal production and electricity generation industry in the Latrobe Valley since 1921.
The broad range of inter-active “hands-on” and static displays “on show” aim to provide visitors of all ages, with a greater understanding of the electricity generation industry, since coal was first discovered in the Latrobe Valley in 1873.
“Self-guided” tours, over the Visitors Centre’s two floor levels are available, and included also, is the opportunity to experience a short power industry video presentation, which is screened in our comfortable theatrette.
Ample car parking is available, which includes panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
ENTRY FEES: $5.00 for adults. Children under 15 years are free. Concession Card Holder, Seniors Card and Students over 15 years $2.50.

Yes, we are “OPEN” again next Saturday 19th September from 1.00pm to 3.00pm. Visitors will be warmly welcomed by our friendly volunteers who will be “on hand” throughout their visit to this informative power industry exhibition.
PowerWorks is located on Ridge Road, Morwell, off Commercial Road. The unique coal-winning exhibit, Dredger 21, is also situated nearby for viewing.
The Visitors Centre aims to provide everyone with a good educational understanding of the electricity industry “journey” over the years from the time the State Electricity Commission of Victoria commenced work in the Latrobe Valley in 1921.
“Self-guided” tours, over our Visitors Centre’s two floor levels are able to be experienced. Also included are a broad range of inter-active “hands-on” and static displays “on show” for visitors of all ages to experience. In addition, the opportunity is available to view a short power industry video presentation, which is screened in our comfortable theatrette.
Ample car parking is available, which includes picturesque views of the surrounding landscape.

Come along and visit our PowerWorks Visitors Centre tomorrow at Ridge Road, Morwell, to enjoy a nostalgic and educational power generation experience. Visitors will receive a very warm welcome from our Visitors Centre volunteers.
The Visitors Centre provides everyone with a good historical understanding of the electricity industry “journey” since 1921, by the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria, especially in the Latrobe Valley.
“Self-guided” tours, over the Visitors Centre’s two floor levels can be experienced. As well, there are a broad range of inter-active “hands-on” and static displays “on show” for visitors of all ages to experience.
At the entry to Ridge Road, Dredger 21 is situated for viewing. This is one of the former “fleet” used for “coal winning” to fuel both the Morwell and Hazelwood Power Stations, along with the Morwell Briquette Factory.
Ample car parking is available, which includes panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
