Oak Hill Gallery presents new exhibitions each month and is open from each day, 10am to 4:00pm. This Italianate Victorian villa houses five rooms of works by emerging and established artists. Oak Hill Gallery is a community run gallery situated in Mornington of the Mornington Peninsula region in Victoria. Oak Hill Gallery is adjacent to the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery and the Mornington Botanic Rose Gardens.

Life Drawing – Untutored Sessions
There’s something uniquely powerful about returning to the fundamentals. Our Life Drawing sessions offer a space to slow down, observe with intention, and reconnect with the core skills that shape every artist’s practice. Working directly from a live model strengthens your eye for proportion, gesture, and form, while the freedom of an untutored format encourages experimentation, personal rhythm, and deeper trust in your own process.
Whether you’re refining technique, loosening up your mark‑making, or simply carving out time to draw, these sessions provide a supportive, quiet environment to grow your confidence and enrich your artwork. It’s a simple practice with profound impact and a wonderful way to stay connected to your creative flow.
Held in the Rose Garden rooms, these sessions provide a peaceful setting to focus, observe and create.
Please bring your own drawing materials (pencils, pens, charcoal and paper).

This class is designed for intermediate students with previous experience in sculpting who wishes to explore their own creative direction. Rather than following a set class project, you'll be working at your own pace with ongoing guidance, feedback and technical support. Your tutor, Sarah Nikolajsen, will be there to help you problem-solve, build confidence, and support you in developing both your skills and artistic voice. This is a space is ideal for students who are comfortable with the fundamentals of sculpture and are ready to develop greater independence, confidence, and a deeper personal artistic practice.

All materials and firing are included in the price.

The Beginners Guide to Drawing starts 5th November.
Here’s a question—how do artists draw the world around them? Here’s the answer—they learn the techniques and then they keep going. Absolutely anyone can learn, including you.
For the first 4 weeks of this 6 week course you’ll learn about the importance of shapes, lights and darks, what to do about distance and you’ll start the dance with perspective. You’ll produce multiple drawings including landscape, still life, buildings and more.
While you’re doing that you’ll be playing with the most traditional instruments of drawing. This includes two different kinds of pencils, pens and charcoal. We’ll also use plain old dead sticks from the garden—wouldn’t you like to know what that’s about?
The final two weeks of the course are an unstructured opportunity for you to develop your own original artworks. Felicity will be there to help, guide and support.
This is a productive, low stress course where enjoyment is an important goal. You don’t need to know anything about art but you sure will by the end of the six weeks. Come and draw!
