LEAP Museum CLOSED TEMPORARILY. A unique play space in Morisset, NSW, for young and old. Currently closed but watch this space for our next steps.

Imaginary play zones, skill games, pinball, LEGO, diecast cars, ball tracks, and more. LEAP Museum is a creation of two Lake Macquarie parents with a desire to do something innovative for families in this region. Our objective is simple: to provide non-digital, hands-on content with an educational slant.

Hi all. It's been a while since we've posted here, and it's perhaps a good time to provide an update on what's going on.

Since we paused trading last year, many people have been in touch to enquire about our status, and we thank you all for your positive thoughts and support. While we were optimistic about bringing LEAP Museum back to life in a fresh venue, we've chosen recently to very much place it on hold. It's no surprise to anyone that the current economic climate is challenging, and it is young families - our customers - who generally bear the brunt.

With that in mind, we're not confident right now that this is a great time to relaunch. We consider LEAP Museum to have been a unique and positive addition to our community, so it's not a decision that's been made lightly; but it is, we think, a sensible one. In the meantime, we're continuing to design, build, and refine our various games and toys because it's what we love doing - our own kids are still getting good mileage out of them.

Our page and Messenger will continue to be monitored, so feel free to contact us if you like. And never say never, you might see us back one day in different circumstances.

On another note, we'll have at least one of our Lego creations on display at Newcastle Brickfest on 26th-27th September. This is a great event with lots of terrific builds being showcased, and all for a worthwhile cause. Get along to it if Lego floats your boat.

Again, thanks to all those who visited us in Morisset during our time there. We hope it left a good impression.

A reminder that our Morisset location (at Morisset Square) is now closed. Once we know our next moves, we'll update this page and our website. It could be soon, it could be a while.

Our page, Messenger, website, and email address all remain active and regularly checked. Feel free to contact us if you wish. However, we have disconnected our phone number for now.

Again, we thank our visitors, young and old, who have buoyed us onwards through their positive words and feedback. We're looking forward to bringing back LEAP as an even better version of itself.

Aside from two days earmarked for vacation care groups, we'll be here every day during the upcoming school holidays - you'll find us upstairs at Morisset Square.

In case you missed it, we'll soon be relocating (new venue details undecided right now) so if the kids need their fix of fun and games then this might be the time for it!

UPDATE: We’ve been informed that the owner of our venue in Morisset will be remodelling part of our current floor space and taking on another tenant. Although we were given the option of staying on, we felt that the substantial reduction in size would really diminish what we can offer. We’ll be here in our current venue up to and including Sunday October 12th – the end of the school holidays. Our usual term time hours and holiday hours remain the same.

We’re looking forward to reimagining LEAP in a new location, and we have a few options to consider in that regard. Watch this space as we embark on our next steps. To be clear, we’re not closing – just ending one chapter and starting another. Given that our play space is quite different to most, we always viewed our time here in Morisset as a trial of sorts – to see what works, to gauge reactions, and most importantly to find out what kids and parents love. It’s been great to hear so much positive feedback which has spurred us on to keep adding, improving, and adapting. It's been less than 18 months, but we feel we’ve come a long way in that time.

If you have a gift voucher, we suggest redeeming it before the 12th or bring it in for a refund. We will honour all gift vouchers when we’re up and running again; but, as mentioned, we’re unsure right now what form that will take.

We have a couple of booked groups/parties beyond the 12th – we’ve contacted you. All booked groups and parties prior to the 12th are unaffected.

We hope to see a few familiar and new faces over the next four weeks, and thanks to everyone who’s supported us so far on this adventure.

Anyone who's visited us would know that we're pretty keen on using as a means of getting kids excited about unstructured play. It's accessible, versatile, strong - and it's colourful!

Use our Lego pit and wall to experiment and bring your ideas to life, or get stuck into our hands-on ball runs and challenges. It's a great medium to demonstrate a variety of neat concepts that get kids and their adults intrigued and inspired.

Have some fun with your kids this Fathers Day and stay caffeinated at the same time.

The first ten dads/grandads/uncles who visit us this Sunday with their little ones will get a free pick-me-up from Chill'd Cafe (just across the road) to keep them rolling.

We've got Lego, pinball, skill games, floor footy, big blocks, car racing tracks, and more, for young and old. Come along to Learn, Explore, and Play with us, upstairs at Morisset Square.

Play is about experimentation - finding out what works, what doesn't, and why; and using that information to adapt and learn. We offer some guidelines on our games and toys, but we also know that figuring things out with limited prompts is a vital part of exploration. Kids will use things in ways that adults can't even imagine.

Our 'build your own' magnetic walls are an example: create a ball track in any configuration you like. Use all the parts, or just some. Or make cool patterns. Or just pile them up on the floor. There's no 'right' way - it's all part of the creative process.

Our racing corner has had a little upgrade - a new wall-mounted track, plus a few fresh cars ready to trial.

Rolling diecast cars down ramps might seem straightforward, but for kids it's more than just a bit of simple fun. They're developing their fine motor skills, their problem-solving abilities, their hand-eye coordination, and it almost always acts as a canvas upon which their imaginations can take off.

Find us upstairs at Morisset Square. No bookings needed, just 'roll' up for screen-free fun and games for all ages.

We've been made aware of an issue with our email - a minority of sent emails from us haven't been received at the other end. If you've contacted us via email in the past few weeks or even months and haven't received an expected reply, we apologise. We've now sorted the issue but please feel free to get in touch again if you need.

On a brighter note, we occasionally get suggestions from kids for new exhibits. They often defy the laws of physics but we appreciate them nonetheless. Our latest work in progress isn't quite the Escher-esque idea that we were given, but we hope this car racetrack - coming soon - will prove to be a bit of fun anyway.

Thank you to all our new and returning visitors, birthday groups, and vacation care groups who swung by during the recent school holidays. It's great to see our vision for LEAP developing, and it's our visitors that help us improve, refine, adapt, and of course keep our venue operating. We've had several kids offer cool ideas for games and toys, and hopefully we can deliver some more fresh goods in the near future.

Our school term hours are resuming - we'll be here Thursday to Monday. Come and find us upstairs at Morisset Square.
