Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming former RAAF F-111 Navigator John Bushell to the Moorabbin Air Museum.

Pictured with our F-111 escape module from F-111C A8-131, John’s distinguished RAAF career included flying the Canberra, F-4 Phantom and F-111, serving Australia for 28 years.

It was a privilege to welcome him to the Museum and hear stories from an incredible aviation career.

On Wednesday Ewan dropped into the Air Force Museum of NZ in Christchurch and was shown around by the very welcoming staff. If you are ever in NZ this is one Museum well worth checking out, and the guided tours are a must.
Plenty of information exchanged and promises to keep in touch. Good to see Canberra A84-240 living over the ditch.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the Moorabbin Air Museum on Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon for Andy Saunders’ special presentations.

Friday’s talk, Spitfire From The Sands, explored the discovery and recovery of Spitfire P9374, while Saturday’s presentation, DH9 From Ruin To Restoration, followed the remarkable restoration journey of the historic First World War bomber.

Across both talks, visitors were treated to fascinating stories, incredible aviation photography, and unique insights into historic aircraft restoration and preservation from Andy’s decades of experience working with rare warbirds around the world.

Appropriately, the event was hosted beneath our beautifully restored DH.60 Gipsy Moth “Diana”, creating a truly unique setting amongst the Museum’s historic aircraft collection.

We’d also like to sincerely thank Andy for taking the time to visit and share his passion and knowledge with us.

We also have a small number of Andy’s DH9 From Ruin To Restoration books available for purchase in the Museum Shop.
