We’re about to have a huge weekend in Montville! The Montville Timber Trail is about to kick off & we’re so excited to welcome visitors to our gorgeous Village.

The Hinterland has so much to offer and this long weekend is the perfect excuse to explore your own backyard. Book a cozy cabin, reserve a table at one of our fabulous cafes and restaurants & make the most of the cooler weather on the hill 💚

Montville set for first Timber Trail this weekend

Montville is preparing to welcome visitors this weekend for the first Montville Timber Trail, a new community event celebrating timber, craftsmanship and local hospitality.

The event will be held in Memorial Close, Montville, on May 2-3 from 10am-4pm, with exhibitors set up undercover so the trail can go ahead in all weather. Organisers say excitement is building across the mountain as the town prepares to come alive for the first staging of the event.

A major highlight will be the Wootha Prize exhibition, showcasing world-class furniture and sculpture pieces by artisans from across the country.

While the Wootha Prize opening night ceremony has sold out, the exhibition will be open to the public across the weekend and on Monday May 4.

The exhibition will be open on Saturday May 2 and Sunday May 3 from 10am-5pm, and on Monday May 4 from 10am-2pm. Entry is $8 for adults, $5 for concession card holders, and free for those aged 15 years and under.

Visitors will also be able to take part in woodworking workshops, with some places still available. Organisers say the workshops offer people a chance to slow down, appreciate timber and learn how to skilfully create a piece to take home.

Montville’s cafes and restaurants will be open throughout the weekend, with food and drink options available across town.

All venues are wheelchair accessible, and parking will be available at several locations along the main street.

Organisers are also calling for a few more volunteers to help welcome visitors during the event. They say volunteering for a couple of hours is a relaxed and social way to be part of the trail while still enjoying what is on offer.

Full event details, volunteer sign-up, workshop bookings and exhibition information are available on the event website.

Did you know it's the Year of the Horse? Previous years include 2014, 2002, 1990, 1978, 1966, 1954, 1942....

People born in Horse years are often thought to be hardworking, charismatic, and adventurous. During a Horse year, the broader symbolism emphasizes movement, ambition, and progress, making it a time that is culturally viewed as favorable for travel, new ventures, and bold decisions.

Julie Hutchings' work beautifully captures the equine energy, expression and emotion. Three new pieces have just joined Julie's extensive collection here at the Montville Art Gallery.

'Sydney Harbour' is the latest of Svetlana Soldatova's stunning oil paintings to arrive at the Gallery. If you haven't seen Svetlana's work in person, you need to. You'll love the 'life' she creates in her pieces using texture and depth of colour.
