1:32pm - The Weekend
123 x 123cm | Acrylic on canvas | Flooded Gum Float Frame

“Sunday energy flows through four distinct worlds within one frame. Three young women gather in animated conversation, two women venture beyond the rocky outcrop into open ocean, a young girl walks purposefully up the beach clutching her treasure, while a young family digs their ambitious hole in the sand—each group lost in the timeless rituals of Sunday afternoon.

The composition divides into horizontal worlds: textured sand, sheltered rockpool with its dramatic gap to the sea, wild breaking waves, and serene sky above. The palette creates striking contrasts—opal sky with subtle movement flows into rich teal ocean marked by purposeful white slashes emphasizing the sea’s energy, while free strokes render the tactile fawn sand that invites touch and play.”

11:42am - Lazy Sundays by

Three young women lie sprawled on their towels in various states of blissful abandonment while their companion sits upright, gazing contemplatively toward the sea. The gentle wash of ocean edges the top of the frame, its peaceful rhythm the only movement in this tableau of perfect stillness.

Viewed from just above the reclining figures, the composition captures the meditative trance of sun-soaked relaxation. Purposeful blocks of colour illuminate the sand around the women, creating a dreamlike quality that mirrors the floating sensation of deep rest under warm sun.

8:48am ‘The Shallows’ by
103x103cm, acrylic and oil pastel on canvas framed in flooded gum

Viewed from above, the composition reveals an intricate choreography of human connection and individual reflection. The palette of verdigris and opal creates a sense of morning freshness, with pops of aqua punctuating the calm like scattered jewels across the water’s surface.

Boy Blue by

63x63cm | Acrylic on Canvas | Framed in flooded gum

“Suspended in liquid light, a young man moves with quiet determination through the underwater realm. Viewed from below, his torso cuts through the water with purposeful grace, chin angled away as he navigates his aquatic world, transformed into a figure of classical beauty caught between surface and depth.

The composition divides between the shimmering water’s surface above and the shared space of open ocean and sandy bottom below. Free markings dance across his chest where bright sun penetrates the water, creating shifting patterns of light. The palette of muted French blue flows through aqua highlights and rust accents, capturing the warm filtration of afternoon sun and the intimate solitude of the swimmer’s journey.”

‘Coastal Affinity’ Petites! By

This series of original artworks is a celebration of the different ways we connect with our coastline. Each piece taps into a different energy of an experience.

These paintings are true to Lauren Esplin’s contemporary style with emotive markings to depict the coastal landscape juxtaposed with the finer detail of the figures.

The frames have been stained so the grain of the wood can be seen which mimics the rippled texture of the ocean.

One of my absolute favourite pieces in this new collection by

The narrow rock shelf curves ahead like a keeper of secrets, pressed between cliffs and calm ocean. A lone woman drifts toward an untouched beach — a paradise known only to those who find the way.

— ‘Last Dip’ 5:38pm

Last Dip is the final artwork in Lauren Esplin’s new collection, A Day at the Beach.

This series charts the passing of time through shifting light and colour, with each painting marked by the exact hour it represents. From morning’s first swim to the fading glow of late afternoon, the works capture the subtle changes of a single day by the sea.

‘Last Dip’ closes the sequence at 5:38pm, where the colours deepen and the atmosphere softens into evening.

📅 Pre-Sale: Opens to our mailing list this Thursday, 6pm
