A proud part of Melrose, the Melrose District History Society are currently on the hunt for a secretary.
We understand that time is of the essence for a lot of people, but without a secretary, it'll make it hard to continue running the archives and the Melrose Heritage Museum.

Someone approved our caretakers, Dave and Sue to take leave to go on holidays for the next couple weeks.
Please note that our opening hours have been temporarily changed while we remain open via our volunteers.

Due to the large amount of rain in Melrose, the Melrose Heritage Museum will be closed today - 25th August.

The Melrose History Society Inc. were successful in receiving grant funding from the Government Owned Heritage Funding for the Melrose Heritage Museum late in 2025 to repair termite damage in the Caretakers residence.

It has taken a while but at long last all the work has been completed and its looking good.

The Society would now like to say a huge thankyou to the following:

Pat Smart from ‘Smart Domestic Building Services’ for doing the repair work.

Dulux who donated all the paint for the work through Inspirations Paint in Pt Augusta.

Ben Claxton - a painter and his 2 tradies who helped paint for 1/2 day in a volunteer capacity.

The volunteers who helped out with some the work and also the preparation and painting of the walls in their own time.

The Society is extremely grateful to all these people.

The many necessary official letters and documentation required when dealing with Government owned Heritage sites have now all been sent to the appropriate people.

Advising community that SA power network has advised there will be an interruption to power supply in Melrose on Sunday 29th March between the hours of 0830 & 3.00. With no power it will be difficult to open the Melrose Heritage Museum on that day it will be closed. apologies for any inconvenience if you are visiting the area.

Because of Melrose predicted heat for Tuesday 10th & Wednesday 11th February the Melrose Heritage Museum will be closed for both of these days.

The Melrose Heritage Museum will reopen tomorrow - Monday 2nd February from 10 am till 4 pm. Come & check out this great Museum
