We would like to thank the team at Steamrail Victoria for hosting the event, also to all the tourist and heritage railways that participated.

It was especially great to see 74RM on site from the Daylesford Spa Country Railway, Klondyke from the Bellarine Railway and the Royal train from the Seymour Rail Heritage Centre.

The event really showcases the tourist and heritage railway scene in Victoria. We believe there were 11 steam locomotives in steam. This coupled with the steam traction engines, steam rollers and motor car displays makes it an event for all the family.

We at DERMPAV provided 58RM along with our recently restored Regal Mark III bus No.560 as static exhibits and operated our sausage sizzle, some of our members also brought along their old motor cars for display.

We would like to extend our thanks all the public who came and purchased from our sausage sizzle stall, your custom was very much appreciated. We have perfected the ability to assemble the customers order at the collection point very quickly to keep the queue to a minimum. Their food and drink order was arriving at the collection point while they were still paying our point-of-sale staff.

For the second Steamrail Open Day we operated the voucher counter, this was conceptualised to allow participating organisations volunteers a quicker path to obtain their food and drink. It allows an organisations volunteer to return back to their respective exhibit much quicker. Participating organisation in the voucher system have agreed to pay for the food consumed by their members on invoice after the event. The system has been well received by those organisations in it currently.

Here are a few photos, hope you enjoy them.

Regards DERMPAV

Hi Everyone,

We are now six weeks away from the Steamrail Open Day to be held over the 7th, 8th and 9th of March 2026.

It is an exciting time where the tourist railways and other rail based organisations display their offerings, as well as providing an opportunity for the resident groups to show case the various items they have been involved with since the last event.

DERMPAV has moved the sausage sizzle inside the shed to better protect our volunteers from the elements. We will have 58 RM on display. This year our Winton engine and the talk on the battle for horsepower will only operate once in the morning and afternoon.

Dont forget to locate our sausage sizzle and have a sausage in bread with or without onion.

Dont forget to like, comment or subscribe. Oh hang on thats youtube! Please share this with your friends, tickets are now available through Steamrail Victoria

We have posted a video of their Mallee Rail Escape Tour

This post is of the photos taken during that tour. 58 RM departed our depot in the Newport Rail Heritage Centre heading for Southern Cross Station, we then depart empty car for Bendigo where we picked up passengers for the run up to Piangil. After picking up the remaining passengers we returned to Swan Hill for the overnight stay.

The next day we prepared 58 RM for the return journey back to Bendigo where we drop off half our passengers and then head back to Sourthern Cross.

After farwelling our remaining passengers we headed back to Newport to stable 58 RM.

Many thanks to the V/Line staff that made the event a success, but also to all of those who came out lineside to snap a photo or video of 58 RM in action, again our thanks is extended to you if you shared your image with us on our page, which many did.
