Concluding National Volunteer Week, we’re proud to see our wonderful volunteer Téa Weiner featured in the Australian Jewish News annual National Volunteer Week feature for 2026.

Alongside her work as a Visitor Experience Officer, Téa supports our Be the Light education program, helping create thoughtful and welcoming experiences for visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

Her warmth, care and dedication are felt across every part of museum life, and we are deeply grateful for the energy and heart she brings to the Jewish Museum of Australia.

We’re also deeply grateful to our incredible community of volunteers, whose generosity, passion and dedication help make everything we do at the museum possible.

This Shavuot, we reflect on the moment Moses received the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai.

Part of a 16th century Dutch tile series depicting Biblical scenes, this work travelled far beyond Europe, reaching Calcutta during the era of global spice trade routes. Across centuries and continents, the story at its centre has continued to resonate.

Objects like this remind us that Jewish stories are not fixed to one place. They move, endure and are carried across generations in unexpected ways.

Happy Shavuot from the Jewish Museum of Australia.

We’re thrilled to present ZAHALKAWORLD: an artist's archive - A Museum of Australian Photography (MAPh) touring exhibition, with new works specifically selected by the artist for this iteration.

One of Australia’s most highly regarded photo-media artists, Anne Zahalka has spent more than four decades exploring identity, migration, cultural diversity and the environments we inhabit. Bringing together key bodies of work alongside personal and professional archival material, ZAHALKAWORLD offers a rare insight into Zahalka’s creative world and working process.

The exhibition also features works from Zahalka’s celebrated series Bondi: Playground of the Pacific, capturing the vibrancy and multiculturalism of Australian life. Presented here at the Jewish Museum of Australia in the aftermath of the December 2025 terrorist attack at Bondi Beach, these works resonate in new ways, offering a powerful reflection on community, resilience and belonging.

Through large-scale photographic works and immersive installations, ZAHALKAWORLD invites you to look closely at the stories images tell – and draw out new perspectives.

Experience ZAHALKAWORLD at the Jewish Museum of Australia.

Open from 11 June 2026. More information via this link: https://buff.ly/usctu5A

Meet the Moment.

Our End of Financial Year appeal is now live.

At a time when division can feel louder than dialogue, the Jewish Museum of Australia remains a place for connection, learning and cultural expression. A place where Jewish stories are shared with confidence and where others are invited in.

This past year, more than 10,000 visitors walked through our doors, including students and teachers from 169 schools. For many, this was their first meaningful encounter with Jewish life.

These moments matter.

With your support, we can continue to:
• Expand education programs for young people
• Present bold exhibitions and contemporary Jewish voices
• Care for and share our 25,000-object collection
• Strengthen a space of resilience, pride and belonging

Every gift makes a difference.

Donate now and help us meet the moment.
