Beinart Gallery (Melbourne, Australia) is a curated space for highly skilled figurative artists with a shared fascination for strange and imaginative themes. => beinart.org By showing internationally established artists with emerging talent we are ushering the New Contemporary art movement into Australia. We are passionate about raising the profiles of Australian artists to an international stage

through our worldwide network of collectors and enthusiasts. beinArt gallery opened in 2016, but our role within this growing international movement spans over a decade through publishing, curating, promoting and educating. Beinart Collective - History

From the vast and intricate drawings of Laurie Lipton to Christian Rex van Minnen’s psychedelic grotesquerie, from Mark Ryden’s adorable pop surrealist mashups to Kikyz1313’s watercolour explorations of innocence and entrails and from Jeremy Geddes’s hyperrealistic floating figures to Michael Hussar’s dark provocative oil paintings, the work of the beinArt Collective’s featured artists is as diverse as it is unusual. Over the years we have published books, curated group exhibitions and maintained a strong online presence under the beinArt banner. Our projects have helped generate opportunities for our artists to network, collaborate, share resources and connect with a broader audience. We aim to foster a sense of community in which these artists will flourish. We delight in sharing their work and hope that by viewing the journeys of these artists, those who light upon them will be inspired. The beinArt Collective was founded in 2003 by Jon Beinart. Starting as an online gallery featuring Jon and a handful of other Australian artists, the Collective quickly grew into a network of hundreds of artists from every point of the globe. In 2010, we held our first international group exhibition at the renowned Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. In the years since, we have shown hundreds of artists in additional prominent galleries, such as Last Rites Gallery in New York. Exhibiting the work of emerging artists alongside that of established artists in these venues has assisted many in the Collective in gaining exposure, attracting new collectors and networking with other artists. beinArt Publishing was formed in 2007 with the release of a compendium of the work of fifty artists titled Metamorphosis. The success of this book prompted the release of a second volume, Metamorphosis 2, in 2008. From then until 2012, we focused on the publication of books which chronicled the life and works of celebrated artists such as Kris Kuksi, Laurie Lipton and Chet Zar. These titles often sold out quickly, gaining positive reviews and worldwide distribution.

Inspired by retro pop imagery from the 60s and 70s, Alex Garant’s new series draws on vintage movie posters and mid-century souvenir postcards. The works evoke a strong sense of nostalgia, with bold compositions and vivid colour palettes. Known for her distinctive double-image portraits, Garant subtly plays with layered eyes and optical shifts that blur perception and identity. As she explains, she wanted “the subject matter and the colour to be saturated with intent. Strong colours, strong figures.”

Nicole Evans's 'I'm Where Nobody Can Reach' is an oil painting on wood panel that sits at the heart of her solo exhibition 'Creeping Normality' - a deeply personal body of work exploring how harm can normalise itself through slow, incremental shifts. This piece speaks to the emotional landscape of depression: the paradox of being unreachable while remaining utterly still.
'Creeping Normality' is on show until April 19th, or you can view it online via the link in our bio.

This original artwork is still available, email us at [email protected] for purchase enquiries or further information.

🗓 Exhibition runs May 3rd – May 24th, 2026

Presented for the first time in this context, the exhibition brings together original paintings from The Red Tree alongside new works, preparatory sketches and personal reflections from the artist. It offers a rare insight into both the making of the book and its enduring emotional impact.

A solitary figure drifts through strange and shifting worlds, moments of quiet hope unfolding within vast, surreal landscapes. With minimal text and a deeply intuitive visual language, The Red Tree captures complex inner states in a way that continues to resonate across generations.

📅 Final days | Closing March 22nd at Beinart Gallery

Featuring a rare collection of previously unseen sketches, drawings and early concepts, this exhibition offers a unique glimpse into Graeme Base’s creative process. With works spanning decades of exploration and imagination, this is a special opportunity to experience a side of his practice that has remained largely hidden until now.

Across a career of more than 40 years, Graeme Base has created over 600 published artworks, yet thousands more have remained tucked away in studio drawers and archival boxes. In this exhibition, he unveils a large selection of these long-hidden works for the first time.

Don’t miss your chance to see this extraordinary collection before it closes.
