A(GAP)E
mesmerized by some / thing...

Step into a space where nothing is quite complete, until you arrive!

For over fifty years, Aleks Danko has explored the ways we engage with art. Now in his mid-seventies, his work remains sharp, curious, and quietly provocative.

A(GAP)E brings together works from the past decade, curated by the artist himself. It’s a distilled reflection on how art is made, encountered, and understood, and where you fit within that.

This isn’t a passive exhibition. Each work shifts and expands through your presence, shaped by your memories, perceptions, and response.

Come and experience it for yourself before it ends on Sunday 14 June.

Today we acknowledge National Reconciliation Week, held from 27 May to 3 June, a time to learn, reflect and take action toward a more just and inclusive Australia.

We recognise the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the importance of building respectful relationships and understanding.

This week marks two significant milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey, the 1967 Referendum and the Mabo decision, each representing important steps toward recognising rights and advancing equality.

Reconciliation is a shared responsibility. It calls on all of us to listen, learn and work together for a stronger future.

It all starts with Frankston.

From local beginnings to a lasting place in Australian art, Rick Amor’s work has long been shaped by place, memory and atmosphere.

This summer, McClelland Sculpture Park + Gallery presents a major survey exhibition of paintings by one of Australia’s most respected living artists, a painter whose life and work are deeply connected to Frankston.

McClelland has shared a long relationship with Rick Amor’s work. Over decades, it’s been a place where his paintings are not only shown, but experienced and understood within the landscape that inspired them.

Be part of an important cultural moment for McClelland, for Frankston, and for Australian art.

We’d love your support in bringing this exhibition to life. Every contribution helps make it possible.

Today we acknowledge National Sorry Day on 26 May, honouring the Stolen Generations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families and communities.

We remember the pain caused by past government policies and the lasting impact on families today. We honour the strength, resilience and courage of survivors and their descendants.

This day also marks the anniversary of the 1997 Bringing Them Home report, which gave voice to these experiences and called for truth, healing and justice. Saying sorry matters, and so does listening, learning and walking forward together with respect.

This week, we’d like to acknowledge the wonderful volunteers who help make McClelland such a welcoming place.

From caring for the gardens and creating flower arrangements, to gallery invigilation, tour guiding and greeting visitors, our volunteers contribute so much to the McClelland community.

As part of National Volunteer Week 2026 (18–24 May) and this year’s theme “Your Year to Volunteer,” we want to say thank you to all of the incredible people who generously give their time, enthusiasm and support.

We truly appreciate everything you do.

Interested in volunteering at McClelland this year? We’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking forward to our next Music at McClelland performance in June, don’t miss this special afternoon of music at McClelland, where art meets nature.

The MSO Academy provides talented young instrumentalists with a vital bridge between study and a professional music career. Throughout the year-long program, Academy musicians perform alongside the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, receive mentoring from MSO musicians, and take part in professional development designed to prepare them for life in the industry.

For this special performance, Academy members will present an inspiring chamber music program featuring a curated selection of works alongside guest musicians.

Join us for an intimate musical experience surrounded by the beauty of McClelland and don't forget there is a chance to mingle with the musicians after the event over complimentary nibbles and wine available to purchase

When: Sunday 21 June
