Jiang’s journey in New Zealand has inspired his artistic expression of an intricate relationship between sentient beings, heaven and earth. His artworks break the blank composition of the traditional Chinese ink paintings, and allows him to encapsulate the grand concept of Tao into colours and sounds manifesting through the symbolic bird elements. Through and through, he sees the great cycle between the purity of the creatures and the mystery of heaven and earth.

Our first exhibition, ‘To Know the White, To Keep the Black: A Paradise of Little Birds’ by Hongguang Jiang, is officially COMING! This is a solo exhibition starting on the Saturday 6 March until 26 March 2021.

We are more than thrilled to exhibit Jiang’s masterpieces that showcase his mastery of ink painting – creative combinations of colours, lively representations of animals, and a deep engagement with artistic thoughts.

Influenced by the cultural backgrounds of three countries - China, Australia and New Zealand, Jiang incorporates a large number of native animals from each country as inspirations, and stitches together elements and symbols that are visually striking, full of humour and extensive artistic tension.

We don’t intend to instil a grand artistic statement this time. "To Know the White, To Keep the Black: A Paradise of Little Birds" doesn’t lead the audience onto a journey enquiring art history. Instead, you are invited to “indulge” in different shades of ink and saturated colours interlacing in space, and to find your own journey into the cosmic truth perceived by the wise.

Appreciating his works, you would contemplate on everyday experiences and the relationship between people, animals, nature and society, and observe deeper into what is hidden: perhaps your own thoughts on the “white” and “black” of these artistic representations.

As we are about to embark on this journey, please refer to the link for details of this exhibition at https://www.australart.net.
