Simon Normand’s incredible ‘Teaspoon Colony’
During the depth of the Covid 19 lockdowns, Simon Normand began collecting teaspoons… enamelled representations of a named place in Australia
As his collection grew, Normand began to examine the often gaping void between images portrayed and the historical reality as it applied to First Nations Australians.
Many of the featured regions and towns were sites of discrimination and dispossession at best, massacre at worst. He started producing art.
