Do you own a masterpiece by renowned Tasmanian artist Michael McWilliams? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re putting out the call for artworks that have been purchased or acquired by private collectors to be displayed in our upcoming exhibition, Gentle Protagonist: Art of Michael McWilliams.
Although McWilliams is one of Australia’s most celebrated and widely recognised artists, this will be the first public exhibition of his work, offering a glimpse into three decades of his extraordinary career.
“From an artistic standpoint, not only is Michael a Tasmanian treasure, but he’s one of the most highly regarded artists in the Australian canon,” said QVMAG General Manager Shane Fitzgerald in an interview with The Examiner newspaper.
“We’re proud of that, and there’s no better way to show it than by surveying his extraordinary work.”
We welcome any McWilliams pieces to be considered for the exhibition or for inclusion in our accompanying publication, which will be one of the largest we’ve ever produced.
A few of the works we’re particularly interested in locating include:
▪️ Sunday Afternoon in the Country
▪️ My Tasmania – possibly acquired by collectors in South Australia
▪️ Fallen Sentinel – purchased in Queensland
▪️ Still Life with Elizabeth – acquired in Sydney
If you own a McWilliams artwork, please reach out to us via direct message.
