We cannot thank Community Bank Lara District enough for their support and grants provided to allow us to complete our Lara history timeline. Without support like this we are unable to preserve the history of our town and wider community for all to experience.

If you are yet to come and check it out waste no time and pop down tomorrow or Sunday. We are open 11am to 4pm.

Due to a private function, the Lara Museum will not open until 12pm tomorrow (Sunday 19th April).

We will be open 12pm-4pm so still plenty of time to explore our collection.

It is great to see the local sporting club preserving their history.

The Lara Sporting Club is proud to have funded the framing of these fantastic sporting photos for the Lara Heritage and Historical Museum 🖼️

If you haven’t already, make sure you get down and check it out! Located on the corner of Forest Road South and Canterbury Road West in Lara, it’s a hidden gem full of local history. Entry is just $5.

Open Wednesday & Sunday from 11am–4pm, it’s the perfect chance to explore and learn more about our community.

Run by a passionate team of volunteers, the museum continues to bring our community’s history to life—organising exhibits, preserving stories, and maintaining the grounds for all to enjoy.

Go take a step back in time and support an incredible local effort 👏

Happy New Year! 🎇🎉🥳🎆

The Lara Museum will reopen tomorrow, Sunday 18th January 2026 so why not start off the year by reminiscing of years gone by or learning more about the area you live.

Also with 1 week to go of school holidays you may be running out of ideas on what to do. Look no further than the Lara Museum. We have a museum scavenger hunt and other activity sheets to keep the kids occupied and also help them learn about times gone by.

We are open Wednesday & Sunday 11am to 4pm. Entry $5. Kids under 16 are free (but must be accompanied by an adult).

📢 Holiday Closure Notice
The Lara Museum will be closed for the holiday period from Sunday, 14th December 2025 through to Sunday, 18th January 2026.
We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our members and volunteers for their incredible dedication and support throughout the year. Your hard work and commitment keep the museum thriving and make it a welcoming place for our community. 💙
