A note from your current President...
I wanted to speak to you plainly, person to person.
We live in an extremely beautiful, isolated place, and being an artist or maker here can sometimes feel like you're working on your own little island within an island. But the truth is, our Art society only exists because we choose to build it together.
If we don’t look after it, no one else will, and once these community groups disappear, they are incredibly hard to bring back.
I know everyone is busy.
I know life on KI has its challenges.
And I know the absolute number one reason people avoid AGMs is the dread of being cornered into a job they don't have time for.
Please let that fear go.
If you come, you can just sit at the back, drink a glass of w**e or water or have a cuppa and listen.
Your presence in the room matters just as much as someone taking a committee role, because it shows the rest of us that what we are doing actually matters to you.
I get it. We get it.
If you want a place to show your work, workshops to learn new skills, and a community that understands your creative drive, please show up for it. We need you, yes you.
😊😊😊😊 Honestly we do, to keep going, just that.... nothing else, please just come... to keep it going.
Our Gallery is an absolutely amazing community art space that has been around for around forty years.
I am personally proud and delighted to be involved and a member of Kangaroo Island Art Society, truly. I hope you can make this AGM.
