Our Story

Platform Gallery is Australia’s first dedicated feminist art gallery. In a world where 70% of arts graduates are women, but women make up less than 30% of exhibiting artists, our mission is to correct the gender imbalance by celebrating, exhibiting and promoting women in the arts. Founded by Kelly and JL Heylen, and supported by a team of four – all women in the arts themselves – Platform Gallery features:


  • the main gallery with a new exhibition every three weeks, curated by Kelly

  • a dedicated emerging artist exhibition space, where students, hobbyists and new artists can apply to exhibit

  • a selection of handmade contemporary jewellery, scarves and gifts by female artisans
