Wimmera-Mallee Pioneer Museum

Wimmera-Mallee Pioneer Museum The History, the Heritage, the Life, & Times, of our Pioneer Families, & the fabulous story of how Come and see one of Australia’s best kept secrets!!!
(1)

Sitting on the banks of the Wimmera River, at the southern end of town, and spanning four hectares of land, is the spectacular WIMMERA MALLEE PIONEER MUSEUM. The Museum is preserving, continually growing, and shows life as it was for many pioneers who opened up the northern Wimmera and southern Mallee. It is a “hands on Australian History Lesson” for our young Australians and a trip down memory la

ne for our older generation, a testament to our early pioneers for all generations to see and appreciate. Many of the tractors and machinery are in working order still, and this is demonstrated at the Annual Vintage Rally: Held each year on the QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY LONG WEEKEND – SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. The Wimmera Mallee Pioneer Museum has a wonderful collection of original buildings from the region, all preserved in their original lay-out, and housing a vast collection of household items, tools from the era and many artefacts telling the story of the history of Jeparit and it’s area, including the people who shaped our town and surrounding communities. The main entrance of the Museum is a beautiful old home, known as Brierly House. There is also Albacutya Homestead, Werrap Hall, Tarranyurk Hall, Woorak Church, Detpa State School, a Chemist and a Blacksmith’s shop, amid the grounds of the Museum, along with the H.V McKay shed, Harvesting machinery shed, Gaols, and many more sheds and areas to poke around in, and discover the heritage within.

🎨 WIMMERA MALLEE PIONEER MUSEUM UPDATE
Here with the Blank Canvas Art Group

A lovely morning enjoying the sun, a cuppa, good chat and creating art — come and go as you please, stay as long as you like.

A warm welcome to new member Christa, who shared her wonderful talent painting the sky and birds — she said she’ll definitely be back!

Everyone is welcome! We know there is great artistic talent right here in Jeparit and beyond — don’t be shy. Reach out to Fay our facilitator on 0438 315 201, to find out our next meeting time. She is lovely and very accommodating. ☀️🖌️

At the Museum!

What a wonderful, busy day we had — never a dull moment!

Our friends from the Dunmunkle Sump Oilers, Noel and Tom, came along to carry out repairs and tend to their vintage engines, including a clever modified Ford Model T adapted for farm use; a great example of the ingenuity of early Australian farmers.

We held a lovely book fair, with plenty of visitors stopping by to browse, buy books, or simply enjoy a chat. A huge thank you to Mary Graetz and Don Pedder for the generous book donations, and to everyone who took the time to call in and look around.

Members of the Blank Canvas art group, Fay and Mel, have been decorating our new book exchange. They have made great progress and will be back soon to continue their wonderful work.

We also enjoyed beautiful music from Maurice Conway of Hopetoun, who played the piano and sang for us.

Special thanks to Wendy and Natalia for all their preparation, and the delicious cakes and treats they provided for everyone to enjoy.

A sincere thank you to Peter, Don and Tige for their hard work and support throughout the day, and to Kenny, Gordon and Jackie for helping make everything run smoothly.

Finally, thank you to everyone who stopped by, supported the book fair, enjoyed the music, shared a conversation, or simply spent some time with us. Your support means a great deal and helps keep our museum a vibrant part of the community.

Something exciting is happening at the Wimmera Mallee Pioneer Museum. These beautiful storyboards, designed by Craige and Jeff, are now being prepared for display. The custom frames were crafted by Daniel Eckermann from Rainbow, and the final mounting is now underway. These displays help bring our local history to life and showcase the stories that shaped our region. Come down to the museum, take a look, and see the latest addition for yourself. We look forward to welcoming you." - Natalia, Wendy, and our Museum family!!!

🌸 A Mother’s Day to Remember at Wimmera Mallee Pioneer Museum! 🌸

We hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day yesterday! We certainly did here in Jeparit. Werrap Hall was alive with laughter, music, and the incredible spirit of our community.

It was a day full of so many yummy treats! A massive shout-out to our stars in the kitchen:
🍎 Christa for her stunning handcrafted apple roses.
🧁 Wendy for those legendary fluffy scones.
☕ Yours truly for the signature Tiramisu.

The atmosphere was made even more special by Morgan and Paul from Blossom Blend. Their beautiful plants and flowers added that perfect splash of color and elegance to the display. 🌱✨
"A special thank you to Mary for her generous donation of the beautiful, colourful bunting that brightened up the hall and added such a festive touch to our Mother's Day celebration! 🌈🚩"

A huge thank you to Craige for the music, and our dedicated volunteers Gordon, Kenny, and the whole team behind the scenes. Our volunteers work hard week in and week out to keep our doors open and our history alive—we couldn't do it without them!

Most importantly, thank you to our guests—your support and presence made this a truly memorable day.
