Love Lures CRAYFISH......
Hi to all interested and have been following my latest lure creation, around 6 days this guy has been being designed from 2 wattle pieces and a piece of Willow. I didn't cut corners as every bit has had time put into them, tow point, bib, hand made as the Cray itself. The bib itself is placed inside the Cray without the typical slot so details are not Lost, engraved signature and date underneath the bib. Nothing but a carving knife and sandpaper was used to do both body and nippers, except for the clear coat all the Cray was done with artist brushes. As a lure designer I have lots of Lures and achievements but enjoying every second of the making of this piece and seeing end results has been right up there with any of my other results. The lure is 290mm total length, body I20mm and nippers 100mm. We are putting him up today until 7 o'clock tonight to give others a chance to own him in an Action with a reserve set solid at $700, I don't normally like private bids for fairness to other bidders but for those wishing to keep it private we will respect that to take their offers seriously as well. So excited to put the end results up for those who love everything fishing the great outdoors and creativity, hope you like the finished product regards Shane.

Shane's been busy painting the Cray all day & forgot to take progress shots ....

But (about 7 hours in) has stopped & taken some photos ~ he's loving how it's looking, hoping you do too ☆☆☆

The underside of nippers is next on the to do list & there is more detail to do on the body too ....

If Shane was using the airbrush, it would be much much quicker, but he loves the challenge of hand painting something with this much detail compared to if he was using his airbrush ... .

It's on it's way to be a very realistic looking painted cray!

Painting is planned for today, Shane's going to brush off the dirt from his real life yabby nipper so that he can see the colours more clearly as he's wanting to make this the most realistic paint job yet ~ he's already spotted some red in a place on the nipper that he hasn't noticed 0before
......

We've been asked if we are going to auction this one & at the moment we're not sure as a lot of hours have gone into this one & Shane's thinking of keeping it in his personal collection, but as with most things Shane creates, if a good enough offer is sent our way, Shane will definately consider selling it.

We're thinking about attending some of the expo's where Shane can carve a Cray in front of everyone & be joined by any other lure makers who would like to carve a cray too with him .... or live streaming a cray carving .... so that anyone interested in watching one be carved can do so & ask any questions that they may have ...... progress photos are great but watching the whole process is even more interesting.

We might try and count the shavings of the next cray to give an idea of how many times the carving knife is used on a cray like this.

Shane has spent the rest of the afternoon undercoating the cray & he took a video of the cray explaining what he had done to the bib so that carving detail wasn't lost
