We've got some visitors coming tomorrow, so after some last minute preparing tonight, upon leaving, the perfect photo opportunity presented. With the lights from the ambulance station one side and a full moon on the other, the grand old lady glowed.

Today we had a visit from Carrington who works with Geographic Names Victoria to detail how the Historical Society can contribute to naming of streets, buildings, parks and other infrastructure, especially nominating female representitives.
It was interesting and a few ideas were planted for future naming nominations, both female and male.

We love talking history. Today Kevin, Lynette and Wendy went back to school, invited by the Inglewood Primary School to talk to the students about the history of Inglewood, characters and events. Lots of great questions were asked and stories shared. We look forward to what is planned later in the year.

Today we had a visit from descendants of James Miller Saunders who was the bank manager of the Bank of New South Wales (site of the current Bendigo Bank) from 1869 to c.1876 after which he purchased land at Green Hills before moving back into Inglewood until his death in 1910. The photo is of his son Bernard Alexander and his family just before he left for WW1 aged 37. Another son, James Miller Jnr also enlisted but in New Zealand where he lived.
Bernard was also Clerk of the Court so the family were able to sit in the same spot in the Court House as Bernard would have sat in the early 1900s.
We really enjoy helping people learn more about their descendants and how they contributed to the history of Inglewood.
