Inglewood & District Historical Society The I&DHS actively preserve the history of Inglewood Victoria and the district to ensure the people and places are never forgotten.

Historical Society meetings are held every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7.00pm at the Inglewood Court House.

Due to volunteer availability, the 150 years of railway to Inglewood exhibition will only open between 11am and 1pm this coming Sunday - 18/10.

Another wonderful day today for our 150 years of railway to Inglewood display. Geoff Hawker paid a visit to donate two books written by his mother Colina (nee Jennings) plus some photos of flooded streets in Inglewood in the 1950s. We really appreciate your generosity Geoff. We also had Allan Wightman visit whose grand parents were from Inglewood. His father worked on the railways as did Allan. He had so many stories of visiting Inglewood. It was great. Then two sisters visited telling the story of their great grandfather who probably spent a bit of time in the dock of the Court House. A real character. Then finally we had a real life judge grace the judge's chair. But probably most special was being able to stand at the front of the Court House and wave to the travellers on the Overlander that came through. Great timing!.

It was an amazing opening day for our 150 years of rail to Inglewood display. About a dozen people through the doors. It was so busy infact that there wasn't time for photos! We are open again tomorrow from 11am to 2pm, then every Sunday in October from 11am to 2pm. We can open at other times by appointment if we have volunteers available.

Don't miss this exhibition. Opening weekend is this coming weekend (11am to 2pm on the 3rd & 4th October) at the Inglewood Court House, then every Sunday during October from 11am to 2pm. Entry by gold coin donation. There are photos, uniforms, original correspondence, ticket books and more on display. We may be able to open by appointment on other days so please reach out.

This photo was found in a storage cupboard at Inglewood District Health Services and passed onto us to try and possibly identify the child. Given the dress style and the photographer, the photo would have been taken in the late 1890s to early 1900s. It was likely put in storage when the second storey of the hospital was removed in the mid-late 1930s.
