In November, it will be 150 years since the railway arrived to Inglewood via Eaglehawk. The Inglewood & District Historical Society will be hosting a celebratory display during Victorian History Month in October. We'd love to share any memorabilia, photos or memories you might have relating to the Inglewood (& can include Bridgewater, Kurting, Glenalbyn) railway over those 150 years. Tonight we had Jane join our meeting. Jane's family were Samers who were well known in Bridgewater for many things like owning the Loddon Bridge Hotel and farming land between Bridgewater and Bul-a-bul Creek.
Kevin just so happened to have some information he was preparing to give to the current owners of the Loddon Bridge Hotel which mentioned names and sparked memories.

We will have visitors tonight at our meeting. Descendents of the Samers family are coming to share some information with us.

This morning after the Under 15 netball match between Inglewood and Newbridge, our President Wendy (who umpired the game) met with Lyne (who was watching her grand daughter play for Newbridge) who passed on a photo of what is thought to be the Inglewood Brass Band which her grandfather Edward Bray Roberts (centre of photo) was a member. She also provided some family history including family trees.

We've got some visitors coming tomorrow, so after some last minute preparing tonight, upon leaving, the perfect photo opportunity presented. With the lights from the ambulance station one side and a full moon on the other, the grand old lady glowed.

Today we had a visit from Carrington who works with Geographic Names Victoria to detail how the Historical Society can contribute to naming of streets, buildings, parks and other infrastructure, especially nominating female representitives.
It was interesting and a few ideas were planted for future naming nominations, both female and male.
