Life member of the Heyfield & District Historical Society, Ron Lancaster, celebrated his 90th birthday on the 4th of July. A beautiful afternoon tea was presented at the Heyfield Hall and Ron's many friends and family all paid tribute to this wonderful gentleman. A feature of the day was the incredible cake in the form of a train. Tom Lord entertained us with summary of Ron's many achievements and thanked him for being such an important part of their family for many years. I think it's fair to say that anyone that has had the pleasure of knowing Ron knows of his willingness to help out, his all round knowledge and skills to fix anything and what a generous and kind man he is. As they say "If Ron can't fix it, it can't be fixed".
We thank you for all you have done for the Heyfield museum and look forward to many more chats over the kitchen table.

Looking for somewhere to take the kids during the holidays that won't break the bank? The Museum is open every Saturday, 10am to Midday. There is so much to see with plenty of hands on and interactive displays. Put the kids in the historic lock up out the back and let them experience what it was like to be on the wrong side of the law (Only the good ones will be released).

The Heyfield Museum suffered damaged to our roof during recent storms. A quote to carry out repairs came to nearly $6500. We have been very fortunate to have received a donation of $5000 towards the repairs from the committees of the Heyfield Timber Festival / Heyfield Lumberjacks B&S ball. Many thanks for your wonderful contribution which will keep our building water tight and secure.
Other sections of our roof will need repairs in the future but one project at a time...

We had a wonderful group through today from the Giffard CWA. Initially some of there group were confused and met at the Heyfield Timbers Workers Hall of fame down in McFarlane Street as they thought we had closed and that was now the museum.

So, no we haven't closed or moved we're still here proud and strong and looking forward to having you or your group come visit.

Just a reminder of our opening hours - every Saturday 10am to Midday or by appointment. Located at 7 Temple Street Heyfield (The former historic Heyfield Post Ofice)
