The Sunshine Sundercut is an iconic Australian stump-jump disc plough developed in 1908 by H V McKay Pty Ltd at the Sunshine Harvester Works in Victoria. It was revolutionary for clearing virgin scrub and cultivating rocky land by allowing the discs to ride over hidden obstacles and instantly reset.
This team was working hard at Wagga in NSW around 1920.

Our cover today, thanks to the Massey Ferguson Review December 1965, shows the popular combination as follows. Jim McKay, grandson of HV's brother, James, pilots a MF 65 tractor and 585 PTO Header through the Drummartin wheat field in which the world's first Stripper harvester was tested successfully 80 seasons previously. Jim's father, Ron McKay, now (1965) owns the original family farm.

A typical Australian wheat harvest scene in 1964 - Pat Gaynor operates a MF combination of 65 Multi-power Tractor & 585 pto Header in a 15-bag crop of Falcon wheat at Marrar in the NSW Riverina district. 800 acres of wheat & 130 acres of oats were grown that year. Thanks to MF Review 1964
