Last chance to apply! Applications for the 2027 Community Exhibitions Program close Sunday 14 June 2026, 11:59 pm.

This is a free opportunity for artists, community groups and schools in Boroondara to showcase work at Town Hall Gallery in 2027, in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Artist Clara Batton Smith, who exhibited in ‘Common Thread’ (2022) said the program gave her the push she needed:

“It was a really open and welcoming place... since that show I’ve been in 5 or 6 more exhibitions and got a highly commended award. It really upped my courage.”

Don’t miss your chance to be part of the program. Find out more via the link in our bio.

Our current community exhibition, ‘Desire Lines’ by Anna Kiparis, explores the unofficial dirt trails that form when walkers consistently choose a more direct, or convenient, route instead of following a planned path, known as “desire lines”. Kiparis’ photographs feature local landscapes around Gardiners Creek.

‘Desire Lines’ continues until Saturday 13 June. Free entry.

Our upcoming major exhibition ‘Slow Read’ opens Wednesday 6 May.

In an era of constant scrolling and visual saturation, ‘Slow Read’ turns our attention back to the printed page and to quiet, deliberate acts of looking and reading. Multi-disciplinary artworks explore the possibilities of the book format, where artists utilise source materials from personal collections of books, archives and more. Through collage and assemblage, artists invite us to slow down and engage with these works – allowing our imaginations to wander through poetic new combinations and sometimes unexpected pairings.

Featuring: Jacky Cheng, Zoë Croggon, Julie Gough, Gracia and Louise, Nadia Hernández, Deborah Kelly, Martin King, David Noonan and Jayda Wilson.

Presented in partnership with Melbourne Writers Festival.

Please join us for the official opening on Saturday 9 May, 1 to 4 pm. Free, bookings recommended via link in bio.
