GLRPS 40th Anniversary Weekend

A reminder of our special weekend on 11th and 12th April 2026 (one week after Easter).

The Picnic Train will also be running steam trips from Goulburn. Some seats may still be available. Alternately you can watch the trains come and go from Goulburn station as per the timetables (as practical).

GRHC Easter Opening Arrangements

At Easter we will have altered opening arrangements as follows
OPEN – Thursday 2nd April,
CLOSED – Good Friday 3rd April,
OPEN – Saturday 4th April,
CLOSED – Easter Sunday 5th April,
OPEN – Easter Monday 6th April.

Opening times and entry fees will remain as standard.

GLRPS 40th

Also open during both days will be the model train layout of the Argyle Model Railway Society. Thry are located to the East of the Wellington Shed in the brick building directly behind Road18 in the Roundhouse.

Well worth a visit to see their H0 trains in operation. 9:00 to 3:00 Sat and Sun (not Sat night)

BCSC D/E Locos

D1 (on right) and D2 (to left) parked together at the GRHC photographed recently. It is believed that this is the first time they have been together since their delivery run from Newcastle in the 1960's. Both were built to a USA design in Newcastle and delivered by rail.

D2 came off at Berrima Jct and was used by BCSC at the Berrima Cement Works until no longer required due to rail freight privatisation. It has been sold a number if times since but now stored at the GRHC.

D1 continued on to Medway Jct (near Marulan) and worked on the BCSC private line to South Marulan limestone quarry. Fortunately after retirement for similar reasons to D2 the then owners Boral donated D1 to the GLRPS. It was subsequently towed to the GRHC and has undergone a cosmetic restoration. It is hoped that both D1 and D2 may eventually be returned to operational status.

Entry to the GRHC will be at standard rates.
Adults $15.00
Concession (Seniors) $10.00
Students $5.00
Family $32.00 (2 Adults and all family children)

If prebooking through Trybooking there is an extra $0.50 fee applicable.

GLRPS 40 - Opening Times

We have extended and added to our nornal opening times for this event.

Saturday 11/04/26
Daytime 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Evening 7:30pm to 10:30pm.
Sunday 12/04/26
Daytime 9:00am to 3:00pm (only).

The Saturday evening event is a special opportunity to see the excitement of steam in a nightime envronment.

GLRPS 40TH Anniversary (11-12/04/26)
This event also commemorates the 40th Anniversary of the formation of the GLRPS (Goulburn Loco Roundhouse Preservation Society).

The GLRPS was set up to keep the Goulburn Loco Depot intact (as far as possible) upon closure of the facility by the SRA in 1986. The last 40 years has been a battle against nature, climate, and government bureacracy but we are still here and optimistic about our future. We want to thank all of our members and friends, past and present for their perseverance and dedication to our cause.

Please visit the GRHC to view our unique facility. We are the last (?) surviving example of a standard 75ft Roundhouse erected on most main lines associated with duplication works between 1910 and 1925.

Coming Soon - April Steam Weekend 11th and 12th April 2026

Hello all,

The GRHC will celebrate steam on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April 2026. The GRHC will have our own 1076 in steam, and 5917 and/or R766 may be also in attendance. Other locos present but not in steam include B390 (2419), 5908 and 3112.

The Picnic Train will run shuttles from Goulburn station to Moss Vale on Saturday and on Sunday a return trip to Cootamundra is scheduled, but fully booked. See https://www.picnictrain.com.au/trips for details and bookings.
