Pease enjoy once more - one of the all time greatest "Hold my beer" moments in modern history - courtesy of Mikey Wright

The last thing he said to his wife before he ran was: "I'm going to need to be saved."
He wasn't talking about the woman in the water. He was talking about himself.
New Year's Eve. Oahu's North Shore.
Pro surfer Mikey Wright was drinking, watching the waves, enjoying the last sunset of the year. A woman was standing on dry rocks nearby, filming a video. She wasn't anywhere near the water.
Then a freak 15-foot wave exploded over the rocks. Ripped her off her feet. Dragged her into the surf.
She never saw it coming.
Someone on the beach yelled: "You can't save her."

Wright dropped his beer. Threw his phone to his wife. Ripped off his shirt. The gate to the beach was locked. He jumped the fence.
And ran.
As he sprinted across the sand, she went under a wave. She didn't come back up.
He kept running.
The lifeguards? Already saving someone else down the beach. Nobody was coming for her.

His sister - two-time World Surfing Champion Tyler Wright - followed to the waterline, screaming when waves were doubling up. "When a wave doubles up, it's got the force of TWO waves," Wright explained later.
He reached her. Grabbed her. Then he rolled onto his back and put his body between her and the volcanic rocks.
Every wave that hit them, he took on his spine. His back was shredded with cuts when it was over.
He kept telling her: "We're going to be all right. Just hold on. Don't let go."
One final wave crushed them both into the rocks. Then hands grabbed them. Tyler and the crowd dragged them onto the sand.

She was alive. He was 24 years old.
The video went viral. 40 million views. His Instagram caption? Two words: "Hold my beer."
His sister posted: "Closing out 2020 with some hero s**t."
Hawaiian pro surfer Ezekiel Lau commented: "You're a living legend!"
Someone else wrote: "Who needs a cape when you have a mullet?"

Wright said he wasn't a hero. "The real heroes are the lifeguards who do this day in, day out on the North Shore."
Then her son came running down the beach.
Crying.
He grabbed Wright and wouldn't let go. He kept saying the same thing over and over:
"You saved my mother. I thought she was gone."
He was drinking a beer on his porch. 90 seconds later, he saved a life.
That's the North Shore. And that's aloha.

Ever seen a stranger do something that restored your faith in people? πŸ‘‡
