Step through the metaphorical Arched Window into a nostalgic exhibition exploring the experience of growing up in Australia during the 1930s through to the 2000s. A childhood full of wonder, make believe, family moments, a sense of freedom and pop culture.

With over 60 works, the exhibition is a celebration of joyful memories, stories and images that shaped the Baby Boomer, Gen Xers, Millennials and Gen Z, in a distinctly Aussie way.
​
From the small rural town to the urban streets of the city, these moments are visually reflected to provoke and encourage the viewer to ponder on their own experience growing up in Australia. Come and reminisce, reconnect and see Australia through the eyes of childhood.

Opening Celebration Thursday 15 October 4:30 - 6:30pm

It’s the last day of ´Shared ground’ today - we are open 10am-4pm. Featuring the work of 10 local artists, this exhibition is part of Geelong Design Week and supported by a grant from the City of Greater Geelong.

Echoes of Moments explores the relationship between memory, impermanence and materiality. Eco-printed fabric and hand embroidery record fragments of the natural environment, while the fading forms and loose threads suggest the instability of what is remembered. The work considers how traces of place and experience remain, even as their original forms disappear.

These Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos are inspired by the ceramic flying ducks popular in mid-century domestic homes. Seeing a group of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos fly overhead is a familiar but still exciting experience along the Surf Coast. Their movement across the sky becomes a reminder of the wildlife that shares this place with us, and of the moments of connection created simply by listening and looking up.
