We are thrilled to announce that the independent judge for our Untether Art Prize is Geelong Gallery CEO and Director Humphrey Clegg. Humphrey Clegg joined Geelong Gallery in April 2025, bringing over 20 years of leadership experience in Australia’s arts and cultural sector. He was previously Assistant Director – Engagement at the Art Gallery of Ballarat (2021–2025), where he led initiatives that increased visitation, secured significant funding for programming and collections, and developed partnerships with national and international institutions.
Humphrey’s career includes senior management roles at the National Gallery of Victoria, where he worked for more than 15 years.
Humphrey has published over 30 essays and articles and has a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University, a Master of Art Curatorship from the University of Melbourne and Master of Business Administration from Monash University.
Humphrey is also the Chair of Red Stitch Actors Theatre, and has been a member of the Board for over 11 years.
