In February, aerial photographer .romeo.kiko experienced two unforgettable photography flights over the spectacular Shark Bay World Heritage Area — one at sunrise and another in the golden light of late afternoon. Flying door-off in a small Cessna 206 with Shark Bay Aviation, Julie captured the incredible colours, textures and vast landscapes of this globally significant region from a truly unique perspective.
Soaring above Malgana Country, known traditionally as Gathaagudu — “place of two waters” — the flights showcased some of Western Australia’s most breathtaking coastal scenery, including Francois Peron National Park, Shark Bay World Heritage Area and Useless Loop. From vivid red earth meeting turquoise waters to the striking salt ponds and endless coastline patterns, every moment offered extraordinary photographic opportunities.
Known for creating evocative aerial imagery that highlights the beauty and scale of the Australian landscape, Julie combined technical precision with an artistic eye to produce images that feel both immersive and deeply connected to place. Her work over Shark Bay captures not only the region’s remarkable natural beauty, but also the emotion and freedom that comes with experiencing these remote landscapes from above.
A special mention goes to pilots Mikey and Andy from Shark Bay Aviation, whose professionalism and local knowledge made both flights seamless, safe and incredibly enjoyable.
A3 window mounted images from Julie’s Shark Bay trip are now available in store.
